Good Morning!
Joe hope work continues to go well.

J22, sounds like a nice time.  Kind of sad that such events are under-attended than in the past, but also good that you have time to enjoy the event and not worry about covid.

We're entering our festival season and will be investing to see how they are attended.  Most of them are outdoors like the Strawberry festival.  Some things I attended before Omicron hit were crowded before the holidays.  This is Florida and people are going on with their lives...we have the vaxed and done mentality and the "I don't care I'm taking my chances and not taking the vaccine" mentality at this point.   I'm in the "when the rates are low, I'm going about my business" like before Omicron when I traveled in a crowds Southwest, but when Omicron hit I backed off.  Now rates are down I'm moving about again.

I had an older retired nurse vehemently answer no when I asked about her vaccination status in her admission and I could tell she wanted to argue and I didn't take the bait and moved on.  Not my place to judge and argue.

Have a great day.

Tweety I  think I'm kind of similar, once the rates go down a bit more I'll go out more

NJ22 that sounds like a good time

Not a bad day at work yesterday.  Not sure what we're going to do today, we have to get out of the old system by 11 but the new system won't be completely ready until Monday.  Planning to push most of today's work off until  Monday and only do what I have to do today,  which isn't much.  Unless I get a new case, will have to consult with the boss if that happens, since that's so time consuming

Woke up once or twice and had strange dreams, probably related to anxiety about this change.  Still managed to get back to sleep and wake up pretty much at my usual time

Apart from work yesterday was a quiet day

Supposed to meet J for dinner, we'll see how he feels.  The podiatrist said the foot is healing, though he's still supposed to follow up to get IV antibiotics.  The current ones only bother his stomach intermittently

Going to be in the 40s today with rain possible, might get some snow  overnight

Good morning!  Though there are signs requesting ALL persons in the grocery store wear masks, I still see a percentage of ppl who go without.  I'm in your same boat, Joe and Tweety, but possibly more reluctant to do without a mask.  When cases drop I may do without, but am still leaning towards doing outdoor entertainments rather than indoor.  Dh and I have not yet contracted Covid.

Off to work soon, see y'all later!  Have a good day!

It's February! Not January. I think yesterday was misdated too.

"I'm back in town. / You don't look so happy 'cause I'm back in town. / You don't look like smilin', / Don't jump up and down on my toes! / I guess I better go...oh..."     (Melanie...1970's)

I don't know why that was my morning song today. It seems every night I have some song in my head, and then usually a different song in the morning. Who knows why. It is kind of interesting. (to me, anyway)

Hubby just left for the body shop to see what my 'ding' on the Ford's fender might cost to repair. I saw his old '93 Toyota truck yesterday; the guy and his son who bought it and are fixing it up came by yesterday and I 'got the tour' of what they've done already and what they are planning to do. Then later in the afternoon, and AGAIN later in the evening, AND again this morning, hubby told me what all had been done and what they will be doing, and how good it'll look when they are finished. ? Boys and their toys! At least hubby isn't sorry he sold it, he knew we didn't have the kind of money required to fix it all up to looking new, the way he wanted to. And the guy he sold it to is a good buddy, as is the son, and each of them live about a mile away from us, just in opposite directions. Hubby has said, "I know it has gone to a good home, and owner's who will take care of it." Sounds like he is talking about a pet! He said he had watched them take his truck off the carrier when it arrived at the dealership in '93, so it had been his "baby" for quite some time.

Yesterday afternoon I called the hairdresser to see when I could get an appointment, and she said "How about now?" So I jumped in my car...she's only 5-10 min away. She gave me a 'perfect' haircut, just exactly like I wanted it, and I feel better having had it done. Hubby has to wait until Tuesday to have his hair cut, ha-ha! Pitiful! I can't see that he needs a haircut, but now that he has less hair than he used to, he likes to keep it neat and tidy. I still have the ponytail he had cut off (years ago) before he decided not to wear it long anymore. I also have the skinny little pigtail he had once, when that was the fashion. I liked it when he wore it long, but times change, and oh well!

Stayed up late watching the Olympics; gosh it makes me so tense to watch those skiers flying hell-bent downhill, and the snowboarders swooping up and out of the half-pipe, twisting themselves into all kinds of knots before landing...I fear bones breaking (although nobody did that last night). I got to watch Nathan Chen's final gold-medal skate again (he is SO good!) and Scott (?) White do his final 3 downhills...he came in 4th; wish he could've at least got a bronze. It was a very emotional time for him, anyway, and he cried off and on during his interviews; don't blame him a bit .... the announcer's kept saying, "This is the end of an era!" He'd been doing competitive snow-boarding ... oh, since about the beginning of time, I reckon!

Hubby came by just now and said the guy at the body shop said it would only be about $70-$80 to repair the ding, BUT...a quart of the paint will be about $150--! Fortunately, it probably won't require more than a quart. (Or as we might say in New England, and Boston in particular----a "Kwaht")

Nannie is sleeping, all crumpled in a heap in her recliner, covered by the pink cushy wrap I gave her for Christmas. It's become, like, her "blankie" now.

Hey, I'm being cautious about the mask thing, too. I just don't trust that any of the 'circulating air droplets' aren't already a mutation of a mutation and getting a ride on the tail of Omicron, // Say, do any of y'all, upon hearing the word OMICRON, think of Paul Simon's song "Kodachrome"? Well, I didn't think so, but  ? I betcha will now! (Sorry...I can't always help control the tangents my brain runs off in!)

Jabber-jabber-jabber. I'll stop here and scan the news-feeds, oh, and the Asheville obits. THAT will be a cheery way to pass the time, doncha think?!

>>>later!

I think you mean Shaun White, Stars. Yeah, I don't get the whole thing about cars. They are just a machine to me, a tool to get from point A to point B.

We are home from Seattle. I have an initial acupuncture appointment in an hour, then I will stop and pick up the dog from dd. I've had acupuncture in the past, but not with this practitioner. He mentioned doing some physical therapy too, but if it's just a repeat from what I went through, no thanks. I just want some relief until at least I can get imaging done. I don't think my issue is a muscle imbalance. He says bleeding won't be an issue even with being on Eliquis. I will wear dark clothes just in case so any stain won't show.

The sun finally came out, and the temp is all the way up to 52. For some reason, dh is in a snit, and not talking to me, so I don't know if we will see the Beatles thing or not tomorrow. Or I might go by myself.

Had home bloodwork drawn this morning. Same gal from last month - did a good stick. Then my HVAC/AC contractor came for a routine service call. At least he wasn't freezing while outside.

Was able to open a can of soup for tonite - no problems using popcan tab opener. So easy. /////  I really bit my tongue hard. ///// And I filled my mediset. I hate that chore.  ///// Is curliing the NEW sport? Seems every time I look, they're showing curling.

Fixed today's and yesterday's.  Thanks for the heads-up; I didn't even notice they were wonky.

Good evening to all!

Work was steady, though it was only two of us in the Stress Lab (we usually have three, as two take care of doing the stress tests in the room, and the third person works on trouble-shooting and rescheduling, and assists with scheduling patients (besides the Schedulers).

I made a recipe I copied from FB, supposed to taste like the inside of an egg roll!  It was really yummy!

(their name, not mine!) Crack Slaw

2# ground beef or turkey (I used Morning Star crumbles)

2 bags Cole Slaw Mix

4 green onions, chopped

3 tsp minced garlic

3 Tbsp soy sauce

2 Tbsp Sesame oil (I used olive oil)

2 tsp red pepper flakes

2 tsp ground ginger

(I added 8oz sliced mushrooms)

Cook ground meat in pan, set aside.  In separate pan, put sesame oil, soy sauce, green onions, and chopped garlic, and stir fry till tender.  Add cabbage, crushed red pepper, and ground ginger and cook till mostly tender (I like it when the cabbage still has a little crunch to it).  Serve it up!

(For my vegetarian version, I heated up the crumbles in the microwave.  I stir-fryed the oil, soy sauce, onions, and garlic, along with the mushrooms.  Then I added the veggie-burger crumbles, cole slaw, crushed red pepper, and ground ginger, and stirred till the cabbage was wilted. )

Dh LOVED it!  (so did I)

So glad the weekend is here, though we have no unusual or special plans for it.

Have a good evening!

Thanx, j22, I knew it wasn't Scott, but I also knew it wasn't Steve....but I couldn't come up with another "S" name! Shaun, right, got it embedded in my brain (for the moment, anyway ?)

dianah, I'd like to try the finished recipe, but I doubt I'll be putting it together in this kitchen: I'd hear -- "Ugh, garlic; ugh, onions; ugh red pepper flakes." ? But, to be fair, in the last couple of years hubby unexpectedly has said, "Can I have a taste of that?" when I am eating something he thinks might not appeal to him, but is 'brave' enough to try. Then, if he decides he likes it, I worry it'll disappear before I get my fill, and forget the idea of left-overs!

OMG...I sweated it out watching the skeleton racers; I was so afraid someone was going to get sideways and crumple down the ice-run at 80 mph. And face-first racers? Fuhgeddaboudit!!

So, it is nearly 11 PM and Nannie is only just now going to bed. She got hung up in watching the Olympics with hubby and me. He just went upstairs to bed. I'm going to pack up and start transferring my stuff from sofa to bedside. Then I have to wake up Ozzie, take him out to pee, and then hit the bed to read a little. How come hubby gets to just say, "I'm going up to bed now..." and he can stand up and walk upstairs>>> while *I* have the laptop, notebook/brain, magazine/newpaper/puzzles, cold drink sippy-cup, phone, dog's leash, my PM-snack: glass of milk, banana and popcorn. I haven't filled my mediset, so I'll need to pour my PM pills, and then put down fresh water for Ozzie, next to his bed (where I won't step on it ? in the middle of the night!), 'construct' the pillows to support me while I read, brush my teeth, and oh, all the details I must see to!  I make myself tired just thinking about it!

Okay, nuthin' to do but get up and do it.......(sigh)

dianah - that recipe sounds terrific. Thinking of a crockpot for it. Add a can of tomatoes and I'd have a stew/soup. One of the guys here is a 'crockpot whisperer'.
