Stars that was one vivid and realistic nightmare

NJ22 it could be that dementia patients are responding to past events

Ado when I have bad dreams they tend to be about being in college and not studying for exams or unable to locate the class

Tweety aromatherapy could prove useful.  Tbh I sometimes wonder if I should try it myself

Work was not too bad yesterday, although my home care patient needs yet another home care agency.  Thankfully another one was found quickly.  Hopefully this one will work out.  Had counseling during lunch, first time in 3 weeks

After work went to the Warhol exhibit with the book club.  Found the story of his life more interesting that his art.  Stayed for part of the lecture afterwards

Today could be bad at work, we have 3 people on our team off, and one of them has a new case I'll have to work on

Have not yet heard back from my cousin regarding my latest email regarding our trip to Milwaukee, and it's been nearly a week.  She is sometimes slow to respond so I'll give her a bit more time

Nothing planned after work, which will be nice

Will be a bit cooler today, in the lower 80s

Good morning!

I've tried some good quality lavender essential oil when I was having anxiety and insomnia real bad.  Honestly, I think my anxiety was so bad and out of control it didn't help.  It might help now that my anxiety is well controlled.

I feel asleep with a book in one hand and my arm wrapped around Waffles and the light on.  Who knows what time it was when I turned off the light, but I was up at 5AM done sleeping.  Won't take a nap as I'm working tomorrow and have to get up at 5AM again.

Have a few minor things to do.  Got some quick work computer based training done.  Requested some eye drops and hope they text early that they are ready for the dog.  They are a 30 minute drive away in mid-county in busy traffic and want to get it done early when there's no rush hour

Have a great day.

Hello all!

I slept OK last night, though I was awake (resting, not sleeping) from 2:30-6.  Alarm went off at 8, as we are getting ready to go to band practice today.

Re: aromatherapy, probably 25 years ago, when I worked in Radiology, we used some aromatherapy to help patients undergoing MRI who admitted to some form of claustrophobia.  It may help with mild cases but not the extreme cases of claustrophobia, IMO.  Pumping lavender scent throughout the halls of the hospital may do something good, it can't hurt (unless ppl are allergic to the scent).  I found a lot of online articles and references to aromatherapy and MRI claustrophobia, a couple follow:

https://blog.beekley.com/can-inhalation-aromatherapy-reduce-aborted-mri-scans-in-patients-with-anxiety-and-claustrophobia

and this one, combining music therapy with aromatherapy during MRI:

Ugh, bad dreams!  Hope they don't happen to you very often!  And what a relief to wake up in one's own bed, and realize "It was only a DREAM!!"

Enjoy your day and evening!

12 Noon~

Last night was another night when I could not get my mind to just shut-up! I did finally get up and do crossword puzzles around 6:30 AM, and an hour later I was able to fall asleep for 3 hours. I have had a few brief 'lurches' this morning, and was trying to remember what I took for vertigo; finally Dramamine came to mind, so I took one of those. The good news is that tonight I will have a Xanax to take (whew!) so I know I will be able to sleep. Will have to go pick up that and 2 other meds at the pharmacy in a short while. I was going to wait, but then I read Tweety's post about the traffic on a Friday, and I decided I would get Nannie up, then go and get the meds. The ballgame doesn't start until 2:20 PM (first pitch), so if I go shortly I can be back in time not to miss anything.

Hubby was kind of obnoxious last night-- loud voice, insistent, angry, and bossy. Next time he pulls that attitude, maybe I will yell at him and see how HE likes it. He told me, "I have one last thing to say, then I consider the subject closed." So he said what he had to say, then about ten minutes later he wanted to start in again. I told him that he said the subject was closed, and I agreed with him, so I didn't want to talk about it anymore; he made his point and there's no sense in flogging it to death. Hah! Nip it in the (2nd) bud! He was such a turd! Anyway, the man who keeps saying he needs to stop sleeping in the daytime has gone up to bed, because, he said that last night, he didn't sleep either.

Okay, I have to quit dawdling here so I can run out and do the pharmacy errand early. Have to get the Nannie-person up now------

Later, yez guyz!

I think the hand soap I have currently is a Mrs. Meyers product. The one in the bathroom is lavender. In the kitchen is lemon verbena and I really like the fragrance but for some reason it takes me back to Girl Scout camp as a kid -- and I associate it with the smell of insect repellent. But apparently a pleasant-smelling insect repellent.

I've read about smells/odors having very strong associations with our memories, and I believe it. Chaps cologne will take me back to freshman year of college and my first "real" boyfriend.

Hubs has worked hard this week to put the house back together after all we had to move out/ deal with for the heat treatment. And he has kept the dishes done. Today he texted that he hurt his back while grooming the dog. You know, not while climbing under a car, lifting heavy totes, doing lawncare, anything you might think would be stressful, but GROOMING THE DOG. LOL

Good afternoon. It's another pleasant day here. I've gone for a short bike ride, and then out to do some gardening. I didn't run the errands I should have yesterday, so that is on the agenda for this afternoon. I got a text from sis, saying she doesn't need the walker anymore, so I will run that back to the Lions Club, where they lend out that sort of stuff for free. Eldest ds came by last night to borrow the lawn mower, and I see he's already returned it. We gave him some cauliflower from the garden and some cut flowers. dd wants to meet to discuss writing trivia questions for an upcoming event.

I think a read about a past study about aroma therapy in the hospital, and it turned out that the study was funded by Dotera, the company that markets essential oils. I think I read that on all nurses.com actually. Maybe there is some science to it, but I think it is individualized. I personally like citrus and vanilla. Lavender, not so much. I well remember the scent of Pinesol (wrinkles nose). Old spice makes me think of my dad, cigarette smoke: my mother.  And bleach reminds of using cloth diapers for my little ones.

The lemon verbena is my least favorite of the fragrances she's used and it's not bad.
