Get a job at Community Hosptial! They have a special program that can help you get in the program and it will help you land a job because the managers at Community like to hire their own! Many New Grads in fresno can't get jobs and this includes nurse externs that have exp on the floor! So working in a hospital will help!
the wait is too long =(
I don't expect to get selected on the first try but it's good to know the official results and move on
results are posted... I was not selected =(
fresno city college had their own little secret that no one know about it. they had couple special programs (such as the Future Nurse, LVN-bridge, paradigm, those who had been in lottery for more than 2 year, and others specials programs that i don't know about it) students in this programs will get pick first and there may be couple spaces left (maybe 4 or 5) then those available space is for the general pool (which 1000 applicants) so your chance of getting is .04%. .04% is not that bad after all because you have the same equal chance as everyone else in the general pool. I didn't mean to scare everyone who going to fresno city, but this is the true.
I knew about those programs too but thought that those applicants would just be included in the same pool and we'd all have the same chance (except for the 2yr ppl). How did you find out how many people applied and the number of spaces offered? It doesn't say on the website.

Hi All-
I was just accepted into the LVN-RN articulation program for Spring 2010. The different programs, i.e. paradigm, lvn-rn, etc are separate lotteries from what I was told at orientation last year. I'm not sure about all the programs but the two groups I know about: traditional RN and LVN-RN that are chosen are not even in the same classes together. They are at a different pace and therefore different selection process. These programs are not chosen first over traditional and then traditional applicants are left to fill in the spots. There are different pools for the different groups. The reason so many traditional RN applicants are declined each year is because their lottery pool is GIANT(I heard near 2000?) compared to the applicants with other qualifications. I heard about all the horror stories of students being declined over and over for years and so I decided to go a different route by doing LVN first. I figured, why wait for acceptance lottery after lottery when I could be at least working and making some bucks..
I wish you all the best of luck! Are any of you guys Non-traditional and still not getting in? you'd think it'd be easier to get in with a shortage...but nooo!
Rollerman,
Did you get in this time? I am curious because this was my fourth time and I was not selected. Im hoping that the chances will be good on my fifth try, in the so called "special lottery" for those who have waited over two years.
no, not this time. hopefully next year...
