Maybe $35-45 at the most, Fresno has one of the lowest cost of living in California, so naturally they pay less, you still are able to live a great life, and it would be even better debt free xD. Probably can save for a down payment on a home if you had no student debt your first year.

When I tutored Chemistry last year an RN and was taking classes to get his RN-BSN and also another degree. I asked him about pay and he said he started out at $70,000 a yr and and at that time was making $100,000 a year

A $70,000 salary when you do the math is $33 an hour so it lines up. $100,000 is $48 or so an hour. Either way no way are you going to make $65 an hour in most places straight out of graduation on Fresno.

I’m not big on money though, I actually hate how much money matters, I just want to make enough to live or buy a house or condo, and currently I do not make that.

The state pays well for any job, being in an entry level job in the state pays really well. Outside of the state though it’s more in the realm of like $35-45 if you look up salaries in Fresno.

In Fresno you can live in an okay apartment making like $15 an hour, where my job is based, $21 (something I got some sort of like 30¢ raise can’t remember the exact number) is not enough to even get a tiny studio. It’s the reason I’m trying to get into nursing school because the progression at my job will be slow and I’m 27 and would like to get my life together.

Yea, I hear you. it's like the cost of living goes up but the pay stays the same.  Barely moves up! $15/hour 20 years ago was something. But now, you can barely get by! and you have to move to an area where the cost of living is doable.  It's good you're trying to get into an RN program, I think that's the direction to go now.  You're guaranteed a job, good pay, and you can pretty much work anywhere!

I’m from Fresno, been there all my life basically. I’m hoping to get into FCC’s nursing program for the Fall. I’m literally saving $1000 a paycheck for the most part just to prepare if I get in. Tuition, books and supplies at FCC is only $8000 and the rest will be able to live likely unemployed for the program, there’s also a possibility the department of rehabilitation will pay for my tuition and books, but I’m not going to rely on that. If I don’t get selected I have to move to Irvine and then IDK if I can apply again, it would be harder. My only family in Fresno now is my brother and my dad, and I’d have to live at home to make it all work. Trying to avoid loans, but if I have to live on my own or with a roommate (I’m single) that’s when I’d take out a small loan (and hate it)

I love Irvine! wish I could afford to live there! taking out a loan is not a good thing, but at the end of the day, once you become an RN, you can pay that loan off immediately, like within the first year.  If you can stay with your family while in the program that's def. the best option.  I have a mortgage, a child etc. so I have to really buckle down if I get into this program.  But, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I love Irvine too, my friend lives there and works for the same company I work for (if you’re into or know video games I work for Blizzard), but the cost of living is kind of disgusting comparing to my pay, and unless I have a partner to make a dual income I’m never going to have my own place.

I've never heard of Blizzard, so I googled it. what do you do for them? do you build the games? yea, the cost of living is def. high! I couldn't afford it! my fam. from the Bay Area, and I would love to move back, but I can't afford to get my own place there either.  And I cannot live with my mother! LOL! two strong-willed women in one house make for a disaster! LOL.  It seems that dual-income is really the only way to get ahead in life and to be comfortable unless of course, you become an RN! Would you want to eventually move back to Irvine?

I test content for the game, if I was making the games I would make a ton more money. To be fair it’s a billion dollar company, and they have a ton of employees and great benefits, if they just paid us more vs giving the CEO of Activision/Blizzard a 200M bonus, people could maybe live. There has been unfair wages strikes for the last couple years.  And definitely do not plan to move back to Irvine when done, I don’t care how much I make if I live in SoCal, houses that are like 400-500k elsewhere are like over 1M there. Truth be told goal is to get out of California, which is one of the reasons I want to do nursing because you can be a nurse anywhere. I cannot work for Blizzard or even really work in the gaming industry anywhere. My family lives in Tennessee and I’m currently staying with them, I really like it out here outside of the weather, issue is the wages are quite low and the Nashville housing market is skyrocketing. Maybe be a travel nurse, not sure, I just know I want to be an OR nurse.

I wish they would just change the evaluation status already! im still pending

I’m still pending too. I’ve seen a few people in past lotteries whose status didn’t change till right before the lottery, then they were selected. I’m telling myself it’s a good omen.  Trying anything to remain calm!  ?

Someone also posted yesterday that they MIGHT not be evaluating everybody, but instead do the lottery with everyone, and then evaluate those who are selected. If someone who is selected is not eligible, they’ll be calling someone else who was unselected and so forth. I guess that’s what they did with the R.T and R. D lotteries this year.
However if that’s the case and they’re planning on doing that, I don’t see why they don’t just pull the lottery sooner and start doing that. But I truly hope they don’t choose to go that route.
