Starting a thread for applicants in 2021 year.

There are two ways to create a special area for your cohort, that are Terms-of-Service approved.

One is to create a facebook page.  This link is allowed to be posted.

The other is to create a "Club" within the site, by clicking on the Breakroom link (upper left-hand corner, in the yellow bar) and in the green area, click Start a Breakroom Club.

Any other references or links posted are not TOS-approved, and will be removed.

1st semester was a big adjustment for a lot of people. Most, if not all classes for pre reqs just test on memorization. Nursing classes test on application of what you know (aka critical thinking). It may be hard online but make good friends in your cohort. Form a group for doing homework and studying together. It may take you a test or two but find a way to study the material that works for you, it may be different than how you've always done it. Make sure to pass the med math test or you will have to repeat the semester. Put yourself out there during your clinical experience (starts week 9). Looking back you realize how easy it was first semester LOL

I would just enjoy your time off this Summer relaxing, doing anything but school related things.

For clinicals purchase a foldable nursing clipboard. I started wearing compression socks this semester too which makes it not as bad on your legs/feet imo. You could get a badge reel with something you like on it. Honestly most people in my friend group/cohort did not read from the textbook so either rent them or do not buy them (wait a couple weeks into the semester to see if you actually need them) The nursing department does choose your schedule for you which sucks but I have heard they might switch to having the students enroll themselves.

hey! I made a facebook page for the fall 2021 and Spring 22 cohorts! search "Fresno city college nursing fall 2021/Spring 2022" you should be able to find it that way! Both cohorts can communicate and its a way for all the nursing students to keep each other updated

Can a current student speak to the  Live Scan requirements for clinicals or background check for new students? Or is live scan just before you license? Getting a live scan this week for something else so just wanted to know if I can knock it or this week.

According to the handbook they use something called Castle Branch, not sure if that uses the same live scans like I got for being employed by the school.

Hi guys. I just recently found out that I got accepted into Fall 2021. Do we need to do any of background check or anything now or wait for the mandatory meeting?

congrats! I would say wait for the orientation. Im Spring cohort but when I spoke to the counselor recently she said everything will be discussed during the orientation. You can always make an appointment with M. Hoff through the Fresno city website though!
