have a wonderful life! :wink2:

I am also applying to U of Az's accelerated program. Has anyone heard if they have been invited to interview yet? Are there any graduates out there who would like to share their experiences of working under the work contract? Is it worth it, or would you rather have completed the traditional program instead? Help! Thanks!

Haven't heard anything yet!! I know the day they are inteviewing is Friday the 21st of Feb...... from what I have been reading the advantage would be the guarantee of a job ,, since it appears hard just about anywhere for new grads to get jobs.

I just remembered a news story I heard a while back about a college in Arizona (don't know if it's this one) that is offering free tuition to any Iraq or Afghanistan veteran who wishes to obtain a teaching degree.

I don't think they are under any obligation to teach in this or that area for a certain number of years, either. Maybe they are; I just don't know.

I contacted the UofA on Monday to inquire about application responses. The School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs told me that letters of invitation to interview/rejection will be mailed out 'sometime early next week.' So look for a letter in your mailbox no later than Saturday.

Good luck.....

thank you sooo much!!!

I'm in the program, and I can honestly say it's a blessing. The only cost to me is housing/food for the year, which I would have been paying for any way at any other program. It's not easy, and there have been days (weeks/months) that I thought the intensity was insane.... but not impossible. I'm a total advocate of the Accelerated program, and will probably stay with the UofA for my graduate work as well.

how do you feel about the lab practice and clinicals and instructors? Do you feel that they have your attention and are there for you?

I was just wondering ,,, have you heard from the actual university? not the nursing department. They told me that I should hear by the end of this month but I haven't heard anything yet.

Thanks

ahhh scratch that ..I was mistaken they said the first or 2nd week of Feb///:icon_roll

Whoah Nellie,

Response from the UofA Admissions Office takes anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks from date of application. Assuming you filled out the admissions form properly, are not on academic probation, and submitted the appropriate transcripts, you'll be admitted without difficulty.

Response from UofA School of Nursing will arrive the 1st week of Feb., with interviews held approx. Feb 22/23.

thanks !!! I just got my letter today from the university!!! Now just waiting on the nursing department....:-)

Accelerated Partnership BSN Program for College Graduates began in June 2003.

AZ area had a huge nursing shortage along with one of the fastest growing populations. This program helped put a lot of nursing graduates into the community with caveat of 3 year work committment or repay tuition. Program is now being expanded to Yuma.

I just saw your quote from the last lecture.. I read that book.. wonderful.. I have been up against so many brick walls... I think my head has permanent dents but I agree.... :yeah:

FYI: UofA Nursing admissions plans to email ABSN applicants either this Friday or next week Monday with letters of invitation/rejection. This is ad verbatim from the SON as of Thursday 5pm. Keep your fingers crossed, and good luck.
