have a wonderful life! :wink2:
Sigh. The suit you can continue wearing. The deposit money for another school...once it's gone, it's gone. Big difference. I am now in the same boat. My backup school accepted me two weeks ago, and needs to know ASAP. I have to send in $500 by Monday as well to guarantee my seat. I asked for an extension, but their admissions staff knows the game. Balk and delay until hearing from the first choice institution while keeping everyone else in a holding pattern.I'm gonna call UofA Thursday and "encourage" them to get results out earlier...
Just joined this site and so glad Im not the only one going through this, not to wish the suffering and agony on anyone else, just really wondering if Im the only one freaking out about what to do. Flew out from Oregon to realize about the cut. Luckily I did apply to NMSU as a last minute move so UA wasnt the ONLY school I put my app into. Ever since getting home from the interview Ive been spending all my time online and on the phone to figure out a backup plan. In the meantime, Ive spent $150 and alot of time to apply to Colorado and even if I do get in, I dont know if I can afford it. Missed alot of scholorship deadlines and so forth. Makes it such a pain with all the diff. deadlines and start dates. Not to mention different requirements for each school. Then....I get a big envelope in the mail today with YOUR IN on front from UA. I think I was accepted into the college in general, not necessarily the program. I only know because this is not the first time this has happened.
HI maybe you interviewed with me. I am from California. Yea I got a few of those envelopes from state schools saying that I got into the university but not the school of nursing.. keeping our fingers crossed for everyone..
OK peoples,
I just got off the line with the CON, and according to the flavor of the day on the telephone, letters are being printed out and sent by snail mail ONLY later today or tomorrow AM. So don't expect anything via email. CON stated emphatically that notification is by physical letter ONLY, and should arrive by the end of the week.
Which brings us back to the old days of applying: if it's a thin letter, it's probably a rejection. If it's a thick envelope, it means tons 'o forms to fill out, so you must be in.....
Raise your hand if you know when your mailman comes every day....
And again, good luck!
This was also announced recently: the CON has a new Dean. We're getting a mafiosa from Chicago!! And she has a ton of letters after her name.....

Following a nationwide search, Joan Shaver, PhD, RN, FAAN, a national leader in nursing administration, education and research, has been appointed dean of The University of Arizona College of Nursing in Tucson. Dr. Shaver is professor and dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), a top-10 college of nursing, according to U.S. News and World Report, and currently highly ranked in federal funding for nursing research and research training. She also is a nationally recognized researcher in women’s health, sleep science, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Dr. Shaver, who was a faculty member at the UA College of Nursing from 1976 to 1977, is expected to join the college as dean in July. She replaces Carolyn Murdaugh, RN, PhD, who has served as interim dean of the college since June 2008.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Joan Shaver has agreed to join our leadership team at the Arizona Health Sciences Center,” said Willliam M. Crist, MD, UA vice president for health affairs. “Dr. Shaver is among the very top nursing administrators in the nation. Her great success at the University of Illinois in Chicago speaks for itself. She also is an internationally noted research scientist and will bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience to our state. We eagerly await her arrival.”
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Like everyone, I really hope the mail comes soon oww and a last year student said their acceptance letter was very thin..hmm lol. I am also happy to see that the new dean is from Chicago and graduated from UIC. Maybe by some miracle, she will see that I'm from Chicago and graduated from UIC and will send me a nice letter lol.. :) :redbeathe
but for now...below zero degrees in Chicago as I wait for both the mail and a hint of sunshine
Chinook: I tried to send PM but it will not let me lol.
nite everyone!!

nite!
mikie
funny you said that. I was reading some of the posts from last year and it seemed that a lot of stuff was mailed later so I was thinking maybe thin.. I won't panic then if it is thin.. I scream with excitement or cry of disappointment after I open it:D
Welcome back Mikie!
I knew you'd show up sooner or later. (I think you have to post 15 times before you can send a PM).
Below zero? Eeeew. I hope they let you in. I escaped from Alaska years ago to get out of that nasty climate. I completely understand your pain.
I'm all about perpetual summer now.
Another long day ahead tomorrow...
long, long, day...
Oy, which means they are using bulk service campus mail to send out the letters, which will add 1-2 days to the delivery time. Essentially, the CON has its mail processed through a centralized campus postal system, where it is metered and then sent out. So figure an extra 1-2 days because of this, depending on how fast (or slow) the processing is.
As for the weekend, do something rigorously physical outdoors with a ton of sun exposure. You'll tire yourself out and crash from exhaustion. You'll wake up on Monday with the letter....unless you live in freezing Chicago. In that case, enjoy the good Italian and Polish cuisine, 'cause there 'aint neither of these in Tucson. It's "American," Mexican, and unpredictable Indian throughout Tucson.....

what a funny synchronicity!
i subscribe to yoga journal and i just received this email from them. they recommend these three poses for relieving anxiety.
i think the message needs to be spread around to increase the joy and lift the anxiety. the three poses, btw, are described below:
march 10, 2009 | issue 352
when you or your loved ones are faced with challenges including layoffs, pay cuts, dwindling budgets, and an uncertain future, it's easy to get caught in negative thought patterns and heaviness. complaining and anxiety can become contagious and lead to increased contraction in the body and mind.
as a yogi, however, you have the opportunity to lead by example and be of service. rather than contract into paralysis, call upon your strength of spirit to stare uncertainty in the eye and live in heart-centered expansion. uplift yourself and those around you.
this week, free yourself with three poses to transform uneasiness and anxiety. recognize that suffering is based on your own reactions, and practice a meditation to dissolve negative thought patterns.

crocodile pose: this is a deceptively simple posture that can deliver dramatic benefits. relax on your stomach with arms folded on the floor above your head. similar to savasana (corpse pose), in which you lie face-up, crocodile pose allows you to release all of your tension, but because it puts your belly and face to the ground, it can make a socially anxious person feel less exposed and vulnerable. in crocodile pose, you can practice yogic breathing (consciously using your diaphragm), which feels both calming and empowering.
seated twists: seated twists of all kinds are powerful anxiety relievers. they teach you to relax even when you find yourself in a tight spot. once a deep twist has been achieved in the pose of your choice, focus on the breath. you'll soon discover that breathing relieves the anxiety and discomfort of the pose. next, you can apply this insight to other life situations—going to a party, sitting in a meeting, or talking with people.
headstand: more advanced yoga students can practice sirsasana (headstand), which is great for increasing balance and strength and can also stimulate mental clarity. holding headstand can be tough, but it's an effective way to calm anxious thoughts and build confidence.
