U.S. Will Resume Offering Free At-Home Covid Tests

Quote

The Biden administration, looking ahead to a possible Winter surge of Covid-19, announced on Wednesday that it was reviving its program of offering Americans free coronavirus tests through the mail and would spend $600 million to buy tests from a dozen domestic manufacturers.

The website for the program, covidtests.gov, will begin accepting orders on Monday, and households will receive four tests. Dawn O'Connell, the assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the Department of Health and Human Services, said the money would fund the purchase of 200 million tests to replenish the nation's stockpile as tests are sent out.

My insurance gives me four free tests up to 4 times a year and that's per person in the household. On that note with the Winter surge already happening in California have any of your facilities gone back to universal masking?

Received 2 boxes BinaxNow Covid tests last week for FREE  --- $23.99 each box cost at Rite Aid.    Thanks President Biden!!

My Medicare drug plan and med costs + going up in 2024 more than our Social Security COL raise.  Had sticker shock when received notice my AARP drug plan doesn't cover Mybetriq in 2024 -- yearly drug cost for all meds would go from  $2000/yr to $9000 next year; found cheaper MC drug plan  covering my meds with cost now $3,000 yr.

As a person in the UK where we pay a percentage from every pay packet for national insurance giving us care free at the point of use and also from Scotland which does not charge patients for prescribed medication,  not one part of that paragaraph makes sense.

I walked into my local pharmacy and they gave me 10 tests. And when I run through those 10 I can get another refil also all for free

I continue to stand by my belief that profit has no place in healthcare and that people should be able to get the care they need without having to sell a vital organ or take out a second morgate to pay the bills

Healthcare is a basic human need, not something avaliable to those who can afford insurance
