Does anyone have any experience with the program at FCC? I am currently taking my pre-req's now and I'm worried about getting in. They keep raising the GPA every year, now it's a 3.39 min. and you can only apply once a year as they only have 56 slots or something. And it seems like everyone in my BI55 class is going for nursing. Can anyone say anything about what the program is like?

Thanks!

Oh, well, my Body Mechanics class was pretty pointless, too.

Well, today will be my third class and it's going well. Nice small class, maybe 10 or 12 nursing students. We watched a 50 minute movie last class on pregnancy and birth.

I would take him for Psychology but he doesn't have a class during the time I can go. Do you know anyone who has taken Psych 101 with Paul Hunter or Lori Schroyer-Wells? They bother offer PS101 at times good for me. Alexis Kauffman has good reviews on ratemyprofessor.com and she is a possibility, too. I couldn't get into an early English class for the fall so I'm thinking of getting my PS101 out of the way instead.

By God's mercy I got an "A" in pottery!

I took sociology at MC and I really liked it. Mostly discussion. I re-took pyc101 online and it was a good online class to take online. Paul Hunter is also the allied health counselor and I think that he would be very detail oriented but probably a good teacher.

Williamson was my teacher for PS 101. I loved him :) Good choice of a class to take over summer. I did Human Growth and Development and Psych 101 over the summer last summer and both were easy peasy, but still pretty interesting. Now if any of you are going to do the evening/weekend ADN program, just wait for summer classes with that LOL! I just finished up NU 210 (OB) in an 8 week session and boy was that hardcore. I thought Fundamentals was hard, well it was nothing compared to OB, at least the exams anyway. If you do the evening/weekend program, you will do OB the first summer, Peds the second. If you do the day program, you have both summers off, but you ALSO have to do Med/Surg 1 and OB the same semester.

Yep, Lord willing that will be me in two years! I'm going to apply for the spring program. I didn't realize the fall program had summers off.

Hi everyone! Have any of you taken BI101 instead of BI55? I am registered for 101 this fall, but I'm worried it is going to be really tough.

Nope, I took BI55 because, it is cheaper (they charge for 3 credits instead of 4), and it has no lab, so is less time consuming to take. My class was 1 hour 15 min twice a week. Boom. Done. The book used in BI55 is the same as BI101 but with the chapters removed that they don't use (like on plants). The publisher prints a version specific to FCC. They really tailor the class to Allied Health students. The website that accompanies the book was very helpful.

Why do you want to take 101?

I wanted to take BI101 because I was looking forward to the lab. I just switched to BI55 for once a week. It fits a lot better with my schedule. Thanks for the reply!

If you were looking forward to the lab, I bet you will enjoy A & P and Microbiology. Hope BI55 works out as well for you as it did me. It was a challenge but very interesting.

I think BI 55 is a better choice than taking BI 101 or CH 101. Remember, BI 55 was MADE for people going on to take A&P and Micro. BI 55 for all intents and purposes was the 2nd chapter of my A&P book. Really helps clarify things when you move on.

Oh no, it's the second AND most of the third chapter. Yea. Learn it well now to save yourself the extra hours in A&P. I started last week and I'd say it's at least 15/hrs per week. It's redic. And I think the lab is actually harder than the lecture.

I'm in BI 103 now, too. I'm very thankful that BI 55 is still pretty fresh in my mind from this past spring! I was originally going to do BI 120 but a slot opened up for 103 after they dropped students for nonpayment so I switched. Very glad I did.

BI-55 does seem to be really helpful to me right now! I don't remember much from high school bio or chem so the pace is good for me.
