Hi,
I have a old charge from 2003 of fraudulant use of credit card (which is a felony). Well that was almost 10 yrs ago. I have values in life now (children) and I actually haven't been arrested or gotten into any more trouble since than. Adjudication was withheld, and I was given 2 yrs probation for. I was released from probation early due to good behavior. I was not convicted but I did plead no contest.
With that being said, I am considering joining the LPN program in January 2013. The application deadline in the beginning of September.
My question is, will the FL board of nursing over look my charge, or will they refused to licenser me after completion of the program because of that charge?

Most likely no one will vote in your "poll" as no one here is allowed to give legal advice. Your best bet would be speak to the board, the school and an attorney, not necessarily in that order.

hello, msbradley -
my answer to your poll question should have been "no." (they won't let me change it.) i was answering "yes" to your original question of whether or not you should still apply.
the florida department of health's website has this q & a:
q: can a person obtain a license as a nurse if they have a misdemeanor or felony crime on their record?
a: each application is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. the board of nursing considers the nature and severity of offenses and how recently they occurred, as well as rehabilitation and other factors. the board cannot make a determination for approval or denial of licensure without evaluating the entire application and supporting documentation. for more information please review the following document: criminal history and discipline information.

and you'll find the document they're talking about, criminal history and discipline information, here:

best of luck to you!
