Foreign RN Failing Nclex - Study Tips Needed

Published

Hello Allnurses Readers,

First of all, let me give everyone a brief overview before I get into the topic above. I'm a foreign RN with licensure in two other Countries (Malaysia and Singapore). I graduated school Top of my class and even went as far as being one of the National Board's Top Scorer for my year. I have been serving in the OR since and never looked back.

I recently moved over to the states to be with my husband and wished to pursue my career. Of course, I have to take the NCLEX. Studied for 4 months on end and failed twice. Imagine that feeling when I've always done so well before.

I summed it to my poor prioritizing skills when it comes to questions and the difference in topics anointed important here compared to where I used to be. I'm ready to pass this test and continue working. This has been straining to my wallet and self esteem.

I would greatly appreciate Nclex Tips by fellow test takers and important notes I should focus on. Would love to hear from everyone and get in a discussion. If anyone is willing to tutor me on ways to answer questions, that would be great too!

Have a good day and god bless.

I feel you. I'm also a foreign RN. When I was in my nursing school in China, I was the top in skills and attended our national nursing skill competition and got first place. I took Nclex on September 25 in 2015 and it was a fail... I didn't know what to do and wanting to give up.. After that, it took me a while to really pick it up again and yea I took Nclex-RN again yesterday for my second time. I felt pretty confident that I passed when I walked out the test center as the computer shut off at 75 and I got 10+ SATA and many prioritizing questions. But I tried PVT last night and it's the bad pop-up... Truly depressed now... Waiting for the formal result and eagerly hoping it's a pass.
