Foreign graduate from Philippines taking NCLEX in Michigan

Where are you in your training because another post indicates you are only 2 years into your training? You need CES report this is as per the site BON website

FOREIGN EDUCATED APPLICANTS:

1. Applicants educated outside of the United States or Canada who have either not taken the

NCLEX-RN for licensure in another state or who have not been licensed as a registered nurse in

another state for at least five years must either:

a. Have a Professional Report completed by the Credentials Evaluation Service (CES) of the

Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS). If your education was not

taught in English, the Michigan Board must also receive a CGFNS Language Report on

English Proficiency. This is an additional service that must be provided by CGFNS. Please

contact CGFNS at 3600 Market Street, Suite 400, Philadelphia, PA 19104-2651,

(215) 349-8767or via their website, CGFNS International | Global Credibility |, to obtain an application for the CES

Professional Report and English Proficiency Report, if necessary. The completed CES

Report must be sent to our office directly from CES/CGFNS.

OR b. Be certified by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS). Please

contact CGFNS at 3600 Market Street, Suite 400, Philadelphia, PA19104-2651,

(215) 349-8767, or via their website, CGFNS International | Global Credibility |, to request an application for the CGFNS

Certification Program. Verification of your CGFNS certification must be forwarded to this

office directly from CGFNS.

2. If you obtained your CGFNS Certification more than 2 years ago and you are not currently licensed as a

registered nurse in another state, you must also verify that you are currently licensed as a nurse in your

own country. The licensing agency in your country must send the verification directly to the Michigan

Board.

3. An applicant who is a graduate of a nurse education program that is located outside of the United States,

has passed the NCLEX-RN examination, and has maintained an active registered nurse license with no

disciplinary sanctions for at least 5 years immediately preceding the application for a Michigan license is

not required to obtain CGFNS credentials evaluation or certification. An individual who meets these

criteria should apply for Michigan RN licensure by endorsement.

I am a lawful permanent resident. I am a nursing graduate and I did not took the local board exam. I'm about to apply in the state of Michigan. And it stated in their RN application form that I have to complete a professional report by ces of cgfns and ielts/toefl. I called the BON michigan if I have to take the local board exam and they just told me to call CGFNS. So I called CGFNS And the representative told me I just need to have the ielts exam and send the transcript of records to cgfns. I'm very doubtful if I was given with the correct informations from this people. So I just want to ask you guys if you could help me verify whether I need to take the local exam for Michigan or not. Your help will be a great help thanks.

You can't say you're a nursing graduate from the Philippines if you did not finish your baccalaureate degree, which according to your other post was you're two years short in completing your education. You can actually go back to the Philippines and finish your degree since you're a lawful permanent resident here. Just go back to the Philippines under a student visa so you can keep your residence here in the US while finishing your studies back home.

I'm from Philippines, currently residing in states. I was 2 years away from graduating nursing and my immigration paperwork went through and I had to come here to states. My concern is that.... Should I go home and finish my 2 years or just try to get evaluated here in states and finish it here? Im in a big dilemma because I was thinking since I'm planning to reside here might as well finish it here but I'm afraid that it would not credit and I'll be going back to square 1 and i do not know how the nursing program works here and i'm still doing my research about the matter. Your help would greatly be appreciated

I am really sorry. I was just trying to weigh my options with my decisions and to top that I don't know how to use this website. but anyways, this is really the story....

I am currently residing in USA as a permanent resident. When I was at Philippines I was an incoming 4th year nursing student. During the summer of 2013 my application when through and I received my visa, I had no choice but to leave my last year of nursing and reside in USA. Since then I was in a dilemma whether where i should finish my nursing.. My first option was... getting my credits assessed and transfer it to a university here in USA. I am aware that they might not recognize a lot of them but if it means they might recognized some of them so, i guess its worth a try.

my second option was to go back to philippines and finish it. I was okay with that too but my most concern was. I was not planning to get a re-entry permit since I only have roughly 10 months left before graduation. I was thinking of flying back and fourth during semester break and graduation but then i read from tons and tons and tons of blog in the internet that the customs might deem me of abandoning my residency esp. if i declare that i'm going to school in a foreign country and have not applied for a re-entry permit..

yes. you might say why not apply now. well. I can't apply anymor for a re-entry permit because it takes roughly a month or two to get a biometric appointment by that time i need to be in philippines to enroll and start my last year of nursing. so i really am in a big dilemma here. i do not know what to do. i'm being indecisive and i don't know if its worth it getting my credits assessed her and just go to school here and i don't even know if its even more worth it going back to philippines and get it over with and apply for nclex here all the paperwork stuff. so, thats the story. any inputs? any advice is welcome.

I think your only choice is to study here. You might start from scratch though, plus the expensive tuition, but you won't risk your permanent resident status.

If you trained outside the US then you need to check BON website and follow requirements for International Trained Nurse

Hello, I'm graduated BSN in phil and took board last 2011 then after I work in bahrain as dental assistant for 3 yrs until now.and this yr 2016 I've decided to take nclex rn in michigan which I pass. :) thanks God!!

Now my problem i don't have any hospital experience T_T. And all most all agency they require me to have ospital experience.

But i want to work in Michigan badly... :'( . Any advice please. I wish they accept entry level nurse but not new graduate.

Hello everyone?, just needed help here. I really wanted to work but I don't know where to start, I'm BSN grad (underboard)in Philippines. I tried applying one of nursing homes here in Holland , Michigan but I haven't heard anything from them, probably they don't recognize my educational background here. Please do advice me on what to do so I can use my nursing degree here Michigan.
