This is my first time in posting the Philippine thread. I just hope that the moderators will give me a chance to be able to post this thread.First and foremost, congrats to those who passed the nle last november. My gf was one of the unfortunate ones who was not able to make it for the 4th time. I told her to just take a review class and take the exam on june. For those nurses who took the nle not once, not twice who was able to make it,Can you give or share me your experience, tips so I could tell this to my gf who is struggling in the licensure exam for nurses.By the way,Im here in california and I cant help or comfort her personally.

Please don't misunderstand, but have you checked the passing rate of the graduates from your gf's school? Maybe it would be useful/helpful to analyze it from that angle......

I couldn't disagree more, a school's passing rate doesn't concern or relate to its students. One good example is the recent board exam. Kindly check how the topnotcher's school performed and see for yourself.

To TS:

Let's hope for the better..

I took the exam once, and passed. First of all TS, I think you should tell your girlfriend to focus on the next NLE and forget about how she failed the previous exams. She should devote her time for studying the Nursing Practice that she had difficulties. Ask her to answer Saunders Comprehensive CDs (4th Ed) and the rationales there. Most importantly ask her to pray to St. Jude (It worked for me).

Also when she arrives to the testing area, ask her to pray first and ignore the negative vibes that the other takers carry within themselves, that would boost her confidence.

I think you need to boost her confidence so that the next time she takes it again she will be able to focus on the questions like it was her first time taking it.

It really doesnt matter whether you came from a popular school or not, for as long as you are motivated to learn, have good sense of judgement, and some luck.. ^_^.. Let's put it this way, howcome there are top performing schools who got some of their students fail the exam? Is the school a problem? I don't think so.. Though schools are given credits to what they contribute, but it is how the students do their job to pass the NLE as well...

it's ok to disagree, pofi, so i hope you won't mind that i don't share your sentiments in your latest post. a school's passing rate reflects the kind of training that it provides its students and the standard that it requires of them. to claim that these issues are not at all related is, to my mind, wrong. again, let me say that i'm not passing judgement on his gf's school. i'm merely suggesting that an analysis from that angle might be helpful. it's common industry practice that when people fail a licensing examination twice, they are required to enrol in additional courses before they are allowed to retake for the third time. a good example is the crne.

that the topnotcher in the last board exam came from a school that has less than a sterling passing record only proves that she is an exceptionally intelligent individual and deserves all the praise and accolade that are being showered on her. except for one school that's had a perfect record from the very beginning, all others have had their share of failures. that's the reason why a school's performance is gauged in terms of its passing rate.

did your girlfriend enroll in a nursing review center? maybe that will help her rather than studying alone. if she did enroll yet she never made it, maybe she needs a better way like a tutorial of some sort. i know a tutorial center, for retakers of the nle, where they only accomodate a group of five (5) in every session for only one month. that way reviewees are facilitated better than review classes of large number of students wherein the discussion is just monopolized by the reviewer. i think the set-up is better because there really is an interaction between the reviewer and the students. so if, for instance, a student still wasn't able to undrstand a certain concept, she won't be ashamed asking her tutor (i forgot how they call them) to simplify concepts because 1) there are only 5 of them and 2) they are all retakers and 3) their instructor knows their needs. i know you get the picture. i hope i am of some help and that your girlfriend will do well next time. god bless!

OP, maybe you should take some time off, go home and be with her... for moral support *wink*

Don't just pick a review center, it should fit your need.. Even if it is a very popular one, what if it doesn't fit your style?
