For those who have just gotten in

Published

I am finishing my first semester. I knew it was going to be hard, but you just never know how until you get there. I knocked myself out the first two weeks, and did ok on the first test and real good on the second.

The bad thing was, I was too nervous to eat right, I didnt take breaks, and I didnt exercise. That was a huge mistake. Dont make that one. Take your breaks and take care of yourself.

I was not going to quit, but I was to the point where I could not pull myself up. I was ready to give up. I am feeling better now, but I am hoping it is not too late. I have our third exam Monday, our comprehinsive math exam Tuesday and our comprehensive final Friday. I am not sure I am ready, but I am going to give it everything I have.

Maybe I will be able to retain what I am trying to cram in in the last few days.

I just wanted to give some friendly advice and wish everyone good luck!!!

Thanks for your encouragement stpauligirl, but really, I know this week will either make me or break me. If you dont see me back again, it broke me. :uhoh21: Just kidding.

I am sure that I will continue to see you ;) HANG IN THERE!!!!!

Stpauli,

I won't forget you!!! Course I will be shaking so much you might can feel it where you are!!! I have a countdown timer on my website that I see everytime I log on, and seeing the days going by so fast, I am getting more and more nervous!!! Still totally excited, but there is that little niggling of dread somewhere deep inside of me that makes me ask "What the heck am I doing!" But...I know that it is the right thing! Doesn't ease the fear any, though!!!

We could use some excitement here in SA...a little earthquake would shake things up some around here :lol2:

I got my schedule for the first 8 weeks of the 2 part semester.....Mo and Tues I have theoretical from 4:00-7:30 p.m. (no problem with childcare on those days, I have a drop-in daycare that stays open late and pick him up from shcool and drop him off on my way to school)

Clinicals will be Wed and Thurs from 1:00 p.m-7:45 p.m. (childcare is a problem but I may get things worked out with one lady in my neighborhood, will know more details by tonight) I have no actual school on Fridays, but I know better....I will need that day for studying in the computer lab, library etc.

I have the feeling that everything will work out just fine for all of us! We've come this far......

Keep in touch. (That's funny about your countdown timer, I would check it every minute LOL)

Be careful what you ask for!!! You may just get it!!!:lol2: LOL!!

Well, your schedule doesn't sound too bad. It beats clinicals from 5:30a-5:30p!! That was my big worry, also- my children. But luckily, my husband has it all worked out. I will be at school/clinicals until 5-5:30ish each day. He works until 5, goes to school at 5:35 and gets out about 10. The younger kids get out of school at 3 and the older 2 get out at 3:40. I was freaking wondering how we were going to manage all of that, but since he just changed to salary instead of hourly work, they told him that as long as he puts in his 40 hours each week, they don't mind him leaving to get the kids. So that has been a huge blessing!!

Hopefully things will work out with your neighbor lady and you won't have to have that added stress!

Yeah, I have a timer on my website and my myspace, so I see it all the time!! Now if it will just hurry on down to like 1 week left!!!

Well, it didnt make me, but it didnt break me either. I guess the final will do that. I did pass it though and I still have a B.

Wow. That is good that you already have your schedule. I hope everything works out as far as childcare. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that they do.

WEll, she hasn't called back....I suspect she won't call back....I felt it in my gutt when I talked to her earlier! Some people wont' be straight up with you and use the phone thing "I call you back" as a way to avoid being direct! I hate it! Just tell me already, you either will or you won't... It drives me nuts not to be able to find someone. Talked to my husband about my concerns earlier and all he does is get mad when I get somewhat upset and emotional. I hate to be alone with everything, no family support, no sympathy from my husband NOTHING!!!!

In the worst case secenario I will need to have to dish out the nanny referral fee for the nanny agency! I am tired and feel like just going ahead with it, why continue with this BS any longer of being jerked around by people!

I am just afraid that I'll pay all that money (registration fee, referral fee) and STILL end up with someone who can't make it to pick up my son on time :uhoh3:

I JUST WANT TO SCREAMMMMMM !!!!!!!

Do you hear me, are the soundwaves hitting you over there in East Texas :lol2:

Please pray for me that I'll find someone for the two clinical days to take care of Andrew.....it's driving me nuts as you can see in my response to BLESSED ;)

I think if we'll stick together like we do here we'll all make it one way or another....I believe in the power of numbers!

Okay Texas,

Let's not go there!!! You are doing fine, and will continue to do fine! You still have your sense of humor, so that tells me that you are okay!!! :lol2: When you lose that, then we will worry!! I definitely appreciate the frankness and honesty that you posted. I know that NS is not fun, and that it is one of the most stressful things that I will ever do, but so many people blow it off as easy to do, and make you think that if you do mess up, you are stupid. I know that I'm not stupid, but do I have what it takes to manage my time, my family, my life? We shall see...:uhoh21:

There you go blessed, TELL HER ;)

Good job, I knew you could do it!:balloons:

i just want to screammmmmm !!!!!!!

so that is what is going on here, huh?!? i kept hearing something that was different. thought it was my kids screaming and blowing my eardrums, but i guess it was you!! :D been there, done that!

i am so sorry that that is happening. having an unsupportive hubby has got to be the worst. :( i am so blessed that mine is supporting me. of course, i had to deal with him going to school for 3 years about 6 years ago, and he is now back in school!!

just keep your chin up. use some of your huge books that you will be getting, and bop him over the head if needed. just tell him that you were practicing for your clinicals!!! :lol2:

i have been married for almost 20 years (will be 20 the day before you start school!!) and i now have my husband trained to cry right along with me nowadays!!! he has been a great support for me, even when i decided at the last minute to start school, and had about 10 days to get things ready from taking the entrance test to doing financial aid to getting registered!

hopefully things will look up for you. don't let anything take away from your starting school in a couple of months. it will all work out! :icon_hug:to you~
