Feeling overwhelmed or drowned after failing these boards? This is how I feel right now after failing my FNP AANP exam on January, 2016. Trying to pick myself up and reaching out to everyone out there who can help or suggest any new study plans. Since both exams AANP and ANCC have updated their tests, I feel like a lost person in the Universe. Any information or guidance from anyone who passed or failed will be helpful.
Would you mind emailing me any notes or study tips that you have for the 2016 ancc fnp exam? Anything would greatly be appreciated and helpful. My email address is [email protected]
Hello. I took the AANP today and failed! Feel horrible. Am working as a np and my job is at risk. I have a toddler, major depression and anxiety, and a marriage that's on the brinks of falling apart. Not to mention a recent herniated disc and spinal stenosis. Anyways my jog suddenly told us around February this year that we needed to be certified by 'June 1' then they changed it to 'aug'. It was too late to postpone the test.
Well took it 6/10 yesterday and I failed. I studying examedge, leik, some Fitzgerald, AANP practice exams, and two apea exams. Did prob over 800 questions. This is my second time failing. First was in 2008.
Any help/advice/guidance would be appreciated. I felt prepared for the exam. But the questions were so off from what I expected and my text anxiety kicked in. I'm a horrible test taker. Also I felt this AANP exam was very hard. Heard somewhere that sometime they do that. Is the correct?
Sorry for the long rant. Just feeling terrible and lost. I do plan to take it as soon as I can. Am hearing 5 or 6 weeks? Thanks in advance all! Help please!
It definitely took me that whole day and some of the next to feel better. But the test is what it is. Does not disqualify our skills and education. I'm using Fitzgerald MP3 so far. Need to get to more of the questings. Have already reapplied to take in about 1 month. May push is back a few weeks. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. And try not to be hard on yourself at all. Many have failed over 4 times. I know I'm not a good test taker but I know I'm a good fnp! Xo
Keep your head up ..
I passed AANP boards on Thursday . What i felt what helped me was taking the test at 6:30 pm, it gave me time to relax and stop feeling so nervous. Also I used the Liek book. I noticed some of the questions on the exam were not covered in both Fitzgerald and Hollier reviews, but it was in the Leik book. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!

I failed both the ANCC-FNP and AANP-FNP as well. It has been a long 3 months of studying and recovering. After graduating in January, I took the Live Fitzgerald Review. Completed all her online lectures, quizzes and test. Did 10 exams on Exam Edge and thoroughly reviewed questions I missed (made note cards and took notes on in a notebook). I studied at the library for 7-8 hours per day for 4 weeks. Made a 78% on Fitz Test and I took the ANCC beginning of March. Failed ANCC, missed it by a few points! Then studied full-time with the Leik book, some of the Fitz Comprehensive Review book (the book that does not come with the course, but the one you have to purchase) on topics I needed to review. In addition, I listened to Fitz Review CD's, while taking notes. Took the Exam Edge for AANP practice tests and reviewed questions I missed. Took the AANP the beginning of April and failed...score 472. This has been a difficult time for me. I scheduled the ANCC mid May. Currently, I am using Fitz Comprehensive Review book, Winland-Brown/Dunphy book, Leik I-tunes app, the APEA Qbank, and Exam Edge. I really need to pass the ANCC. Any suggestions?
