For anyone who's done the Kaplan Qbank?

Published

I am studying for the NCLEX (3 weeks away!). And have been getting 60-84% on the qbanks (mainly in the 60's/low 70's). I'm wondering how this compares to everyone else and if these are good percentages? I'm hoping this is preparing me for the NCLEX!

You are doing just fine. I am a true believer in Kaplan. I forget my percentages now, but know that l was in that range. I was totally freaking out, but passed nclex in 75. All of my nursing school friends passed 1st time with 75 Qs too. I thought Kaplan was harder than the actual NCLEX. Good Luck!

okay good! I'm also pretty worried about the pharmacology and how much time I should spend on it. So far I haven't really studied pharm, and have just looked into meds as they come up in Kaplan questions. I feel like if I only get two medication questions I don't really want to concentrate on it too much...

What is your overall score for Pharmacology and parenteral on Qbank?

Those numbers are actually pretty good. I could never get higher than 64% on Kaplan, my lowest score was 58%, and they say to aim for 65%. I passed nclex with 75 questions, I agree with the other poster that Kaplan is harder than the nclex.

Hello. I have been stalking this website ever since I started nursing school, and now that I am so close to taking my exam (3 weeks), I am TERRIFIED! I am also on the Kaplan route, but I feel like my scores are varying! Kelso, your grades are awesome & I say you are well on your way. As for me, I am in the process of answering questions and my scores on the qbanks so far have been 67, 58, 56, & 46! In that order! I feel like I am going downhill. I have so much going on in my mind and I dream about this exam every night. My Kaplan instructor told us that Kaplan is 25 points harder than NCLEX so if you are in the 50s and up, you should be good. It's good to have people who are in the same boat! I pray to pass this exam and put it behind me! Do you guys think I should reschedule for a later date?

That's what I would average on my Saunder's tests and ATI. The highest I ever got was 82% with a majority between 65% and 70%. It sounds like you will be fine.

Good luck!!

Try taking a break from the q trainers, read up on some content (if you haven't finished the course book), and start the q bank to build up your critical thinking skills. This is what I am doing.

Thank you, BSN Student +Tech. I think I do need to take a break. Before taking the Kaplan live course, I reviewed the videos along with the book & took notes. Then the class started & ended, & I have been doing questions since. When doing the rationales, I have my book open so that if there's something I don't understand, I can have access to the information. My exam is exactly in 18 days & I don't know if my scores are good enough, or if I should reschedule. My diagnostic was a 49, qtrainer1 (45), qtrainer2 (45), qtrainer3 (51), readiness (62) .. I am still in the process of doing qtrainers 4-7. What do you guys think?

I think you will be ready for your scheduled date. Keep on practicing with the q bank and save q trainers for the week of your exam. If your scores on the q bank are going up, that is a good sign. My q bank scores were in the 40s before the class, in the 50s after the class, and they worked their way up to the 60s and 70s in the week of the exam (I did about 50% of the q bank starting a week before the exam date). I passed yesterday!

Kaplan is alot more difficult than nclex. Don't stress to much. I never got over 60% and i passed nclex with 90 questions. Focus on abc's, priorities, infection control, and delegation.Think positive U WILL B FINE!!!!!

Thank you all for the encouragement, I take the nclex next Monday and I'm freaking out about my qbank scores. I'm averaging between 55-70%. I took hurst review too, so I'm supplementing my weakness in content with that book.

Yes, we can do this!!
