Footware Advise

Hi Guys, It's been a while since I posted, things have been in a whirlwind since I got my license. My current employer has been giving me a hard time because she knows I have been looking to leave now that I been licensed. But anyway, I took my first job. Open Heart, Neurosurgery Critial Care Step Down Unit. 3 twelve hour shifts, ration 4/5 :1. Starting April 5th. Gave my 30 day notice today (required by my contract). YEAH I am so excited !!!.

Anyway, does anyone have any good suggestions for men's footware? I have been looking and there are soooo many types out there (and price ranges) I don't know if I am coming or going trying to figure out what the best choice is.

You guys have been so great and helpful, thought I would ask the crowd.

well, Birkenstocks are for men and women. They are fantastic. The sole is made of a cork type material that molds to your feet. They are a little more expensive, but well worth the money. I have a problem with calcaneous spurs on my feet, but with the Birkenstocks, I can work my full shift pain-free.

I'll never buy any others!!!

According to my orthapedic surgeon, the best shoes for for you are either Nike or New Balance.....especially warned to stay away from Reebok!

And Birkenstocks.....are you crazy??? LOL I think he wants REAL support for his feet! Yikes, I can't even imagine!

I love my Z-coils! Adore them!

The birks KILLED my feet. Felt like I was standing on bricks and sticks all day long!

New balance are ok, but I have really wide feet, so they can rub on the tops of my feet. Nikes are too narrow.

replace them often

they really dont hold up long without breaking down

I replace them every 3 months minimum

I have Birkenstock Super Birki clogs and Dansko closed-back clogs from their "Professional" series. Both are great, although took some getting used to.

I'm looking at buying some Merrill shoes right now...a couple of our docs and PAs swear by them.

A couple other guys I work with wear Asics running shoes.

Would like to try these, but they sure look odd. :stone

My wider-than-average pups do well in New Balance and Avia. (Forget Nike or Reebok.)
