HeLLO everyone! i am new on this and not quite sure how to start a new thread. So soo sorry if this messes things up.

Anyways just wanted to know if anyone has got their acceptance letter from FCCJ for the summer 'o8 LPN classes??

Also does anybody know if FCCJ is having weekend/nights LPN program for the fall term? Thanks!!!

So I'm just checking in to see where everyone else is in the process of preparing for orientation...

So far:

my titers are done...I go to have my tuberculosis test checked today...and start my hepatitis series. I have submitted my online background check...I'm searching for money (loans, grants and scholarships)...I go for fingerprinting this week and will probably schedule my drug test for next week...oh yeah and i'm going to order my uniforms this week...

*phew* I'm trying to get it all done early that way there is not as much stress

anyway...just checking to see where we all are. Have a Great Week!

...and if anyone has gone through the financial aide process with FCCJ I have a few questions...Thanks!:bowingpur

Well I've done pretty much everything except for ordering my uniforms. Now I just have to make copies and turn it all in.

As far as financial aid goes if you have not started it yet you need to ASAP. This is my first time getting financial aid and I had no idea about the process. You have to fill out the FAFSA for the 07-08 year for the summer semester and then submit it to the school so they can decide how much aid to give to you. They declined my aid because I already have a BA and I violate the 150% rule. So I have to appeal the decision. After they offer you an aid package you may have to go to a loan workshop depending upon how much you qualify for and if you need a loan in addition to the aid they give you. You also have to pick a lender and sign all the paperwork. All of that can take a month or so and they told me my money still might not be there in time for May when school starts but I will be reimbursed when the money gets there. The best part is that for aid starting in the Fall you have to do it all over again and fill out the FAFSA for the 08-09 year.

If you can go to the financial aid office at Deerwood. They are great and will explain everything for you. Good luck!

Hello! To all who are looking for finance, check out Worksource. They are wonderful. They were able to help me out. This program comes from the state to help people get better paying jobs. Primarily teachers and nurses. THe only problem is that they work on a first come first serve. Once the money is gone it is gone until the next year and I believe the the state funds them every July. Anyway go try. They helped me. Good luck to everyone

Do you know anything about having to stay in Florida to work as an RN if you get funding from Worksource? that's the only thing that's holding me back from applying with them.

I did not ask that directly, but The way that I understood it the only stipulations is that you have to fill out a monthly time sheet and have your instructor sign it while in school. Then after words for 18 months you have to keep in contact of where you work and your salary. That is it! Basically they have to show that by helping pay for someones schooling, it has helped them maintain a good paying job. I would apply as soon as you can. If you have children they have more than one program that could help.

I have a meeting scheduled with them next Tuesday so I will have more info then...

The WorkSource program is called "WorkSource Investment Act" (WIA) it is like a grant. You attend orientation and then make an appointment to fill out the necessary paperwork for funding. Call this number....they should be able to give you better directions. :)

I made an appt. with worksource for Friday so I will let you guys know how it goes...I called them about two weeks ago and a lady sent me a packet of papers to fill out and a list of stuff to bring to the appt. It is a wonderful grant and it pays for summer and books! =)
