Can you PA'ers give a Florida girl some advice? I'm planning a weekend trip to Pittsburgh to see family some time in October. When do you suggest would be the best time for me to catch the show of fall foilage? I have NEVER seen autumn in person (no autumn in Florida) and this trip is really to give me that gift to myself. Would the last weekend in October sound good?

Thank you Michelle for the heads up. It would have ticked me off to no end to get up there and have bare trees when I want to leaf peep.

Ahhh, the Fall is so beautiful here ! I agree with the 2nd week in October. Check out 7 Springs, they have October fest every weekend, it is a ski site, great food, craft shows, music, hiking, horseback riding, lots to do with kids. You can ride the ski lift to the top and really see some breathtaking views. Enjoy your visit.

An update. The week of October 25 gave me a spectacular show. It appears the timing was perfect because after Halloween, the winds came and started stripping the trees.

It was like a box of Crayolas had spilled on the landscape. Just magnificent.
