Florida BON - Board Has to Approve

Published

I got notification toaday that the BON has to approve my CNA license. It is scheduled to go in front of the board at their next meeting in August in Tampa.

Has anyone ever had to have the BON approval? If so, did you attend the board meeting personally? I asked if I needed to attend and got no answer.

Any insight would be helpful.

I did attend a BON meeting last June in Jacksonville. I am a nurse.

Why does the board need to approve your license? The notice should state if you are required to attend.

Hi :)

Sorry you did not get any help with your question. I have just found your post and would like to ask how it worked out for you at the board meeting? My friend is in the same situation for RN license. She is going to the next meeting on November 30th as the board has to approve her application.

Hope you got the result you wanted :)

I went to the meeting, they told me that I didn't need to go, but I figured that since it is my license that I am trying to get approved, that I had better go and speak up for myself. There were plenty of people who didn't go and only a few that did. I am glad I did because they asked questions and talked and approved my license. Otherwise, it would have been denied but because they could ask me extra questions and I had a chance to speak up for myself and explain it worked out. Make sure they have everything - every document from court, letters of rec, anything to show you are trying your best to be a better person.

Wish you all the best!!

Dear Suz,

Lesson number one, put any questions in writting, return receipt. Do not use a telephone for important conversations. Always in writng. Just FYI, BON are made up of the self rightous over zealous individuals who beleive "they" are protecting the public from nurses. Now there are some nurses who don't need a license, however I missed filling out a line of an application for endorsement, it was just a mistake, I was charged with "fraud". I hope this has been of some help to you. FLTNRSE@

It sounds like going was the wisest thing you did :) Congratulations on your license!
