FIU Generic BSN 2022

Published

Hey everyone!

I saw that there hasn't been a forum made yet for the Generic fall 2022 nursing program for FIU and decided to create one! I am in the middle of the application process and I am still studying for my TEAS. Any tips?

Hey guyss, I just finished by TEAS exam and scored an 88%, I honestly think you guys should use the Mometrix secrets book and NurseHub since that helped me a lot. Also of anyone has information bout the hours I would appreciate it ?

Hey. How are you? For how long do you recommend me studying for the TEAS? And how many hours a day. I want to do good. Thinking in applying for 2023

Hello! Since you have a long way ahead before 2023, I would recommend studying each day for 1-2 hours. Once you’re closer to the date of your TEAS, you should study 4-5 hours each day. Also, I would recommend you to try to have a really good GPA, community service hours, and if you can, it would be great for you to have some sort of medical experience in your application.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I was thinking of doing that. I am currently a PTA. my overal GPA is 3.9. Also, I was thinking how difficult the program can be having in mind that I am a mother. Or how will the school schedule will be. Thank you for the advice. @Esthernin2024

For our cohort, they gave us specific schedules that we could choose from, and when you’re enrolling, you have to choose the classes from that schedule, so you will be able to know what times you might get, however, enrolling it’s very intense and it all happens really fast. Some people got scheduled they didn’t like and other really liked their schedules, is it depends how fast you’re able to get your classes in order to see which times you get. Some people in a program didn’t get to have much flexibility when choosing their schedules but it might change for next year.

Hey guys!! Hope you guys are doing great! I am in the process of applying for fall 2023 and just wanted to share my concerns. I have a 3.7 GPA that should go up after Spring semester, I scored an 88 on my TEAS with an 86 in science, but I have 0 service hours :( however I am certified in BLS and EKG, but IDK if they look at those. I'm just so anxious and would like to know if I should be worried and what stats other people in your cohort had. Thank you!

Hi! I got in with a 3.8 sGPA and an 88 TEAS score; got a 94 in science and 100 in math, though. Our cohort's average sGPA was a 3.79 and average TEAS was an 85. I also had over 100 hours in community service and volunteer hours at a special need's facility for children. You still have time/Summer to get in at least 50 hours of community service before you apply. Something is better than nothing.  Remember you can always ADD (not change) things  to your application once you submit it! Being BLS and EKG certified really won't do much except fluff up your application, since its required to be certified once you're in the program (not a prerequisite for the program but rather a requirement once you get accepted and go through orientation). Having strong letters of recommendation from an employer/volunteer coordinator would be your best bet.

Thanks for your reply! I also got 100 in the math section and I didn't know that you can still add things to your application after submitting! However, I would only have until the middle of May, correct? Since that is when they usually send out decision letters. By any chance, do you know any place with a good volunteer program?
