First year pay

Published

I would just like to know, what did you as a LPN make your first year with no experience?

The poster's profile indicates he/she is 52 years of age.

This person might have become a nurse over 30 years ago, when a wage of $3.25 per hour was actually regarded as somewhat competitive. Therefore, I believe the poster might be telling the truth. :)

actually it's a he and it was 26 years ago

don't believe that. what were you doing?

i was working in a hospital as a lpn it was 26 years ago. did part time at a nursing home at the same time they paid 3.50

Well, that's why I put "he/she," since I didn't know the gender of the person to whom I was referring. :)

i'm making about $30/hr here in CA. no benefits though and it's part time.

It depends in w/c area/ location you are working. I am in San Jose, CA. (bayarea) Im working in a skilled nursing facility as Per Diem LVN and i get $31/hr when i get hired fresh from school and passing nclex-pn. LVN's in this area get $25-28/hr average. Im just lucky!::nurse:

You're per diem status. Per diem nurses earn substantially more than regular staff nurses because y'all receive no benefits, and the shifts typically are not guaranteed.
yup my first years nursing pay in 1978 was $4.10 an hour working in a hospital..lol

look at how far it has come since :yeah:

i am in tennesse this state never has paid very good. i lived in south carolina for a few years and made much better but, the cost of living was much higher. i now live in a rural area and for the area make on the high end of the pay scale. most jobs are wal mart or mcdonalds type.

Well, i have my options now and i'll get $29/hr. but i dont get the benefits yet since i have fullcoverage insurance from my husband. Im working not less than 80hrs for 15days. im okay with that since its my first year.

just to answer the question not to debate or anything..
