Congrats! May I ask is your offer was from Memorial or Grossmont?

Thank you! The offer was from Grossmont MICU! Interviews for Memorial MICU/SICU are on the 15th/16th

Feeling the same way and have heard that out of state doesn't get looked at much, and also curious about the truth to this. I am starting to worry, as I only applied for my California licensure. California is expensive and I can't move without a job. If you find any input on this! Please post and let me know :)

To all out of state applicants... San Diego has a plethora of new graduates who are local and don't get jobs either. Those who do have worked, volunteered, or precepted in the hospital. I have 15 years of health care experience, including as an LVN, and two graduate degrees with a 4.0. And it was still hard to get a job (to be fair I was holding out for a speciality). FYI many san Diegan nursing new grads opt to move out of state until they have a year of experience and can shed their new grad label. So, if you aren't getting calls- it's not personal! There are so many qualified people with great resumes and all the certs in the world. It's just an over saturated market. My two cents: get a year experience where you are and then apply as an experienced nurse! Much better👍! Good luck to you😄!

Has anyone heard of being an alternate? Or even an alternate getting offered a position for Sharp?

Sharp Chula Vista ED is calling for interviews today and tomorrow! I did not get a call (yet) but good friends of mine did and they have interviews on 4/2. Good luck everyone.

I got called for an interview yesterday for Sharp Chula Vista ED for the New Grad Residency!! So excited, and yes intervie w schedule for April 2nd

I interviewed at Grossmont at the end of Feb. They sent me an email to check my references the following week. All of my references completed their survey and then I was denied from the job a week or two later. Does anyone have any thoughts on why they would ask for my references and not hire? I was (kind of still am) crushed.

Could be that they checked your references and didn't like what they found. In this case, you may want to talk to your references and see what they had to say about you. Or have someone call them pretending to check your references and see what that person is told. If you find out that your references aren't giving the best picture of you, find yourself some new references.

Or the facility had a better applicant and decided to go with them instead. Your references may or may not have been a deciding factor. Sometimes there's just too many qualified applicants and not enough positions--meaning that some applicants have to hear "Sorry but No."

It does suck when it's you that's the one hearing it :(

@kels23 I just moved from New York in April and been applying since March, having trouble getting interviews for any new grad program I've applied too. Have you had any luck?

No luck at all. I put in over 20 applications all over California. I had one application go to manager review but nothing further. I talked to a couple recruiters to ask what my application was missing. One told me I have to be licensed and live in the area to even be considered. The other told me she was surprised there wasn't jobs in New York I could be applying for. So my backup plan is to gain a year of experience and then reapply for jobs. They are oversaturated with new grads so I'm hoping once I get some experience I can apply for jobs and have a better chance. Good luck to you!

Thank you for the info!! I took my boards in NY February and got endorsed in CA, received my CA license in April. The whole process has been frustrating. It's taking a lot longer than I anticipated. All my classmates from my program are working in New York already! Good luck to you too!!
