Okay I just took my NCLEX Nov.3 and passed.....I thought that it was going to be easy finding a job....clearly it is not!!!!! I stay in the Raleigh area...so I have been looking at WakeMed, Rex, Chapel Hill and Duke....nobody is hiring a new grad nurse right now....I just don't know what else to do..I have a child and I want him to have good Christmas...clearly thats not going to happen because nobody is hiring right now. I called WakeMed and they said that they will be hiring again in January...what in the world can I do until then? I put in an application in at Rex and nobody has responded. I call up there and I always get their voicemail and I don't care what time it is I still get their voicemail..one time I called them at 8, got their voicemail...i call them at 9 and 10 and still get their voicemail...I don't know what else to do? Should I get another job until January comes around? Then I got to thinking to myself who is going to hire me for one month...please help....if anybody has in suggestion could you please let me know what to do!!!!!:crying2::uhoh21:

Have you tried walking into the hospital to meet with the person in charge of hiring? I don't have any experience in this- but on other threads people have mentioned being aggressive is the way to go in getting hired. Good luck.

Thank you for the suggestion!!!! I am going to do it this week maybe!!!

you need to keep on them. i work PRN at main wake and it's like lighting a fire under someone's rear to get anyone to call you back. go in there in person and speak with the nurse manager. wake med is soooo huge that the applications at HR just kinda get shuffled for months, lol.

rex and duke are the same way. keep calling them!!! they DO need people.... just be persistent.

Hey! Does anyone know the nurse /patient ratio for Rex or any of the other nursing homes. in Raleigh? I am moving there.I love my job as a LPN but really dread going to work when I have to pass meds to 40 patients at a time, do treatments etc.... I would like to work some place where I can actually have a relationship with my patients. I am also thinking about hospice care there. Anyone have experience in these areas.. in Raleigh,N.C.? Thanks a lot for any advice!

Try going to the state forum for North Carolina and asking the same questions. This is just a general forum for newly licensed RNs in their first year and is basically international. Your state forum is more likely to get your questions in front of someone who has an idea of the area. :)

Sent you a private message. Crap! I just saw the date on this post..2008 You probably have 2-3 jobs by now. Just disregard.
