Specializes in Emergency.

I recently graduated with a BSN in December 2007 from a nursing school in SC. I was and currently am a resident of NC and as such, applied to the NCBON to become eligible to take the NCLEX. Well, February is here and I am still waiting for an ATT. To my knowledge they have received the out-of-state school transcripts but the NCBON website reflects that they have not been received. I am getting frustrated and anxious becuse I started my RN-Intern orientation this week and I am still awaiting a date! How long does is take the NCBON to confirm eligibility? Any suggestions?

Specializes in Med/Surg.

I also graduated in December from a out of state school, I received my ATT exactly a month later. I would suggest you call your board of nursing and ask them about the status of your application. Make sure you ask them exactly what the hold-up is and you should probably call your school and ask them if they sent out all the required information and when.

I live in NC and had NOTHING but trouble with the NC board.

CALL THEM - they lost half my paperwork and tried to blame it on me, and then after they found it, told me I must have submitted a second copy. I asked the person I spoke with (I won't give his name, but it's the guy in charge of eligibilities) if he'd noticed the date and notary's signature on the criminal background check and that it was the SAME as the identity document. He then said, "Well, I just don't know how they got separated." I then asked him (I was very patient!) if the paperwork went to two separate offices when it arrived at the Board, and he said, "Yes." I then said - "Then that's how they got separated, I guess." (:icon_roll)

Then - HE HAD THE PAPERS IN HIS HAND - and it STILL took FIFTEEN DAYS for him to enter it in the computer!

Stay on them - be polite, be professional - but this is your future and their problem.

PS - I'm not the only person this happened to in my class. According to my dean and the director of my program, they are notorious for their disorganization.

So call them - and be warned, he likes to collect voicemails and not return them. Also - email him DAILY. Again, be polite, be professional - but as I said, this is YOUR future.

You can go on the BON website and find out what paperwork they've already processed, just in case it's a matter of the stuff getting "mysteriously" separated.

Good luck and hang in there.
