First Two Days Down, Many to Go!

Nursing Students General Students

Hi, I'm having insomnia tonight. (Well actually I went to bed early, & I'm now wide awake) so thought I would post while I still can! Just started 1st semester ADN Monday, Aug 18. We had an informal,"fun" orientation on Friday, Aug 15. We met the instructors & 2nd year students, had a picnic together(nice). So Monday was "real' orientation. We hit the ground running. We already have reading assignments 5 chapters in Fund book, 3 chapters in Clin Drug Therapy, 1st Pharmacology module due Aug 25, CAI (computer) course to be completed by Aug 29, preparing for abbreviations test next week, etc. etc. I have lecture 9:25 to 12:10 Mon. & Wed and also some lecture and clinical skills labs on Tue & Thurs. 9am to 3pm(approx.) After 8 weeks of clinical labs, Tues & Thurs will be our clinical days at area facilities. There will be a lot to keep organized to not get behind. Best wishes and God Bless to all new students. We can do this! We can do this!

Congrats! I hope we can keep this enthusiasm all the way through the nursing program. I start on Monday. Good luck to you (and me and everyone else) starting this semester!

It is so nice to hear how things are going. I have orientation tonight. at 6pm. I can't wait. My first class is on Tuesday evening. As long as we stay focused, organized, and enthusiastic we can do it. Good luck to all!!

And so it starts! Good luck, keep focused, and have fun!

Good luck to everyone, new and "old" students alike. I start my second semester ADN Monday, and I'm ready to jump back in, but nervous about IV's. Those who are so inclined, I would appreciate y'alls prayers. Lord knows I'll need them! :)

God bless, everybody! Keep your head (and spirits) up--we'll all get through this semester!

Congratulations!!!! Sounds like you are going to be real busy.....I am getting excited about nursing school just from reading your post...and I don't even start until next September....lol. Study hard, stay organized and rest when you can.

One day at a time.... best advice I got in nursing school :)

Congratulations to all who are starting and finishing school. This is the best advice I can give any nursing student: get a LARGE 3 ring binder with a clear cover. Print out a calender for each month you will be in school this semester or quarter. Place these print outs in the clear cover of the binder, where you can always see them. then schedule EVERYTHING on that calender!! homework, assignments, CAI's, clinical hours, appointments not r/t school, etc. THis works miracles for me and my study partner. Oh, another great idea: have a very organized study partner! Good luck!

Just remember, you're not alone!
