i dont know if my question makes sense..lol...im just curious if its true that first nclex rn takers are more intelligent or have higher IQ than those who took the exam a couple of times or more.:angryfire

That is most definitely not a true statement. Taking the NCLEX exam is unlike any exam that anyone has ever sat for. There is no comparison with any exam in school.
I actually find more first time passers with those that had the lower scores in school than those that were at the top of their class. Completely opposite of what you are thinking.
And some of the best nurses that I have ever worked with had to write the exam several times.

i agree with the above post, because those that had lower scores in school excel more because they read more than those people who score high tend to underestimate the nclex thinking they know a lot...hehehe!

I highly doubt it,just think we must all be smart to make it thru school in the 1st place,I think the tests{I only took PN}are not even thinking of IQ's but how you would deal with situations,I think nerves play a role in how well people do.

i think, perhaps, some of the brighter persons may fail, because they think too much......so ...prob no related, and comes out a wash

They may or may not have a higher IQ, but if they havent got any common sense then having a high IQ will not make a difference when they hit the floor running as an RN.

I do not agree with that statement. I know two women both now nurse practitioners that took the NCLEX 4 times before they passed. It is not a reflection of the test takers IQ. :redpinkhe

I had to giggle at that, I have a fairly high IQ but can be seriously lacking in common sense. I managed to pass the NCLEX the first time, but I do have to say that I learned more about common sense in nursing school than at any other educational point in my life! And I agree that just making it through nursing school to begin with indicates that you have smarts. Even if there are those who make us wonder.
