The dean at the school I attended is telling me that the "Preventing Medical Errors", "HIV/AIDS", "HIPPA" and "Domestic Violence" CEU courses that I took while in school will not apply to my renewal CEU's because I was not yet a nurse when I took them. That is totally different than what they told us during school. Anyone familiar with this topic?

Pretty much only those CEs completed from the time the license was renewed until the date of expiration count. If my license expires on December 31 every two years, then for my upcoming renewal I can only use CEs completed between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2016. If my license were issued as a new grad on January 1, 2016 with an expiration date of December 31, 2016, then only those CEs completed from January 1, 2016 until December 31, 2016 can be used for renewal. Anything prior to January 1 doesn't count and anything beyond my state's requirements cannot be rolled over into the next renewal period.

What is it you are trying to renew? Nursing license or a certification? I would look at the requirements for the regulatory body requiring the CEs, not the dean of a former school.
My FL nursing license. I'm uploading all the content in to CE broker so I can see how many more I need. I emailed the BON, but am looking for input here as well.

I just looked up the Fl BON on CEU's and according to it, you can't use CEU's from a prior renewal period, so I would assume that applies to pre-licensure. Here is a link to the FAQ:
