First Micro Exam

Hows everyone doing in Micro? Had any tests?

Got a 93 on my 1st lecture exam yesterday, but the class average was 64? We have another lab test tomorrow and those are getting progressively harder. Maybe people just have really full schedules and no time to study...I cant wait to get this over with myself.

Does anyone understand about all this metabolism?? Now we're onto chapters 5-9. She started metabolism before we had our first lecture test so I was more focused on having the old material down pat before even thinking about the new material.

Any advice on our unknowns?? Fortunately it's not until April.

Dont you love how they do that ok your test is on chapters 1-3 or whatever then nothing you study is on it, happens to me all the time.

No kidding!

My micro teacher said flat out and in a smug way, "I go out of my way to make sure someone can't pass my test if they start their studying the weekend before my test."

and of course she added material to the test from the lecture (m) prior to the test (w).

I'd rather have the teacher give no hints than contradictions.

If some1 throws me a bone, It should at least be fresh...

I think I still got an A tho-

Yep, every teacher thinks that their course is the ONLY one you are taking. Just like my algebra class 45 prob. for homework plus a take home quiz, and when does she think we have the time to do it all? Good luck and better on the next one, thats the way you have to look at it I guess.

Well, I hate to bust your bubble :chuckle but I got a 101% on the first lecture test yesterday Our class average and the average of the other sections were also very low, teacher was disappointed but happy that at least 2 students in our class got 100+ WE get better numbers on class average tomorrow and I'll keep you updated.

That's awsome that you got a 93.....keep up the good work and we both may get an A in this class. I would be so happy. Our teacher is very good and gives us every oportunity to do well, she gave an excellent review, makes you scratch your head why the average is so low....short from giving us the answers on the tests she is extremely easy to figure out. I believe people don't study and that's the reason why they don't do well.

We have weekly lab quizzes and so far I have Ace'd all of them, too.

Congrats on the 101! That blows my mind-will you come take my future tests for me?:roll

GL on future stuff-lets get some A's!

Just had my first Micro exam tonight 70 pts total.

40 mult choice, 10 short answer and a 10 pt essay. "You are a mad scientist engineering a pathogenic bacterium. Describe all structures and features." (My defence is that if i'm a "mad" scientist :banghead: , my design would be highly irrational and not understood by an sane person anyway. Maybe I should have engineered a lactose loving opportunistic pathogen that cultures in icecream and attaches to roof of it's host's mouth via fimbrae. This bacterium produces toxins that give it's victim pizza burn and mass confusion.) I dunno. I feel I did well on the test.

LOL!!!!!!!! This cracked me up!:roll

I got a 100% (8 pts extra credit). Class average was 80.4%

AWESOME

Yeah, we have all been freaking out about celllular metabolism too-and the unknown bacteria thing. But what really sucks is our lab final-you have to get a 70% to pass the class-even if you walk in there with a 100% average in lab and lecture-if you get a 69% on the final she fails your a%$!

My teacher is very vague. The material we covered most in our lectures was hardley on the exam...Not a good sign when someone leaves the room crying after 10 minutes. Yikes, I guess there will be an empty seat come monday...

Love the "Pizza burn" that is too funny :chuckle

Sounds like a rough test!!!!

I dont see how she could do that well there are some instructors that suck, I really dont know why they have to make it so hard for the students. I mean you can only remember so much.

Metabolism will come up after our 2nd lecture test, looks a lot like what we covered in A&P1 about cellular respiration.

I also feel queezy about the Unknown and it will be a big part of the lab grade :uhoh3:

As far as I know it could be one of the cultures that we are given to work with....It won't be anyhing that we haven't handled. Take good notes on your lab test results and observations.

It's called "weeding them out"
