first time out is scaryas you learn the meds and the residents it will become second nature esp if you have the same res you will know what is serious and what is normal for that particular person
you will be fine
:yeahthat: :yeahthat: It will get easier, I promise. And soon, when you are orientating a new LVN, they will think the same of you. Good Luck, and triple check like you said.
I feel like we're wearing the same shoes lol. I'm on my 5th day of orientation at an LTC.. I've passed meds on my own already as well and has been oriented on both wings already... i've noticed that the other nurses finish quicker and make it look so easy because most of them do it by memory since they're used to the patients and facility.... we have a horrible ratio on the west wing, which is 1 nurse to 38 residents... imagine the workload?!

I am 3 days into orientation at my nursing home job, and today I got to pass meds to about 30 residents all by myself. I am on 7-3 and the first med pass took me until 11. I felt really stupid at times, because the regular nurses make it look like childs play. I have to triple check everything, and not knowing all the residents makes it that much harder. I did injections, breathing treatments, wound care, and fed residents too. I hope i did not bite off more than I could chew, will it get any easier, after orientation I will be on 3-11 and 11-7 as per diem.
