First Day Jitters

Published

Hey Everyone!

SO My first day is right around the corner. Tues Sept 7th, any one else getting the first day jitters? I've been out of school for about 6 years, I did complete cosmetology school, but realized quickly I love doing it on the side not as a career. Im excited to meet all the new peeps, and start digging in...

Out of curiosity what do you all plan on bringing the first day?

Tomorrow is my first day of LPN school after 20+ years in the insurance industry. I am nervous but excited to begin a new career after all these years. I hope the younger students don't feel I am too old to keep up with them!

Anxious but also looking forward to a rewarding year.

Are there any other "mature" students out there?

i'm in my third and final semester as an LPN/LVN student and even til now i get the jitters. it's just we anticipate so much and we're not sure of what's going to happen. it's okay though, just try to relax and take it a day at a time. i hope you're first day went well! i found an application for android phones that may help you. it's called mini nurse and it's free. maybe that might calm the jitters :p

I start my LPN program on Monday. I am so nervous. I just graduated from a Medical Asst. program but before that I had not been in school for 20 years. Can't wait to get started.

To all of you starting out the LPN program, please come back and let us know how things are going. What was your first day, first week, first month.....like. I don't start until next fall, but would love to hear all about it!

Jala I will post info often. I know I would want to know what to look forward to in advance

First week, lots of info, lots of homework and feel so tired! 2 tests tomorrow. hope i have studied the right material

Specializes in Geriatrics.

I'm going into my third week. So far we have already had an exam in Nursing Fundamentals, and we have a test on med math tomorrow and an exam in A&P. So far so good, but I'm exhausted all the time. I'll probably cut back my hours at work before next semester starts.

Hi guys!

Just thought i would put out an update.. First week is over, start week 2 tommorrow.. Had my first quiz friday on body systems.. it was a breeze (it was pretty basic). Looks like we have a good group of girls and guys in our class, i think about 20-25. :coollook: We have our first A&P test in the AM. I've made flash cards, bought an A&P self test book, so i think i should be more then prepared. WE have a quiz in nursing fundamentals, and test Tuesday. They are not wasting any time.

On a side note, Im not at all being judgmental here, because i think once you have served your time that your past should not affect you any-longer. But lets be honest we live in a society that judges, and having a criminal history can effect every aspect of your life. About 60% of the class has openly admitted to having a felony. I was quite shocked by how open they were about this. I believe that they will have a very long road ahead to overcome this. I admire there perseverance but i think they are going to have a very hard time getting their licence and even if they did get their license who says there going to be able to get a job?:twocents:

Any who.. i wish you all good luck in your first, second, 30th week of school! Keep updating!:yeah:

I must say i'm a bit nervous about my first day of class which starts tomorrow. Even though i have been preparing for almost 8 months and I that i was accepted to the program about 3 months ago, I thought my anxiety would be over by now, but its not. I was sent a copy of my class schedule for the first trimester and i have nine classes, let me say it again 9 classes can you believe that!!

I agree with Jala..i dont start the program until March 2011..id like to know how the first days were..and how hard it gets because im extremley nervous!

I have been in my program for 4 months now and let me tell you it is challenging; lots of studying, tests, tons of information to absorb in a very short time. My best advice to you is read the chapter before you get to class then during the lecture you will comprehend what the instructor is teaching. I hope you have a good instructor, that makes a world of difference. :)

Thank You JackieBrit! I have been out of school for 6 years and haven't had to study since then so thinking about all the studying and all that is a little bit nerve wrecking lol but i think its def worth it! If you dont mind me asking a few questions...what did you bring the first day of school..should i start buying basic things like my stethascope, scissors, pens pencils things like that now?
