Nursing Students CNA/MA

I just want to vent ,

I got my cna lic a month ago. I quickly started applying. After applying to over 50 facilities one of them called me and got hired without experience. I am just too tired with pains and aches. I for family, kids issues can only work 3rd shift. SO I work 11-7 . 20 pts to change and take care for. I truly appreciate they gave me the chance therefore I feel bad to look for other facility in the near future. I just tired tired tired. I have been working in the cleaning business for more than 5 years so I do know how physical jobs are, but for some reason this is just harder. I have no problems with being slow I think there are 2 cnas that are too slow for me , I work fast. I have my job done on time and other can and nurses are very surprised of me being the this is my first job. But im too tired for this job this is my second week . Any feedback, personal stories. Yes, I do need the cash as well, but I don't think is worth it for all the physical pain I have been feeling.

I've been a CNA and I can't do it ,my body just can't , the job is too physical for me .

Try to do home health ,I had one patient and loved my job .

I mean I couldn't be a CNA in a nursing home

I agree, a CNA in home health or psych may be a better fit for you. I'm in pretty good shape physically, and being a CNA was still exhausting.

Being a CNA/STNA is HARD!! It was the most physical work I have done. However, there are other options. In addition to psych and hh, you could think about assisted livings, rehab units, some hosp floors (have never and will never work in hosp so idk about this one.) you can use your training in a great position that isn't so physically taxing.

Try home health. It's cleaning, companionship, and some assistance with ADLs - one patient at a time.

Home health baby!

You pick your clients, when you want to work, and ONE person ;-)

I wouldn't try assisted living. A lot of those patients are nursing home qualified but the management team wont transfer them because of money. With assisted living= higher ratios ands NO lifts to help you transfer someone.

I'm with you on this. Being a CNA is the hardest work I've ever done! I've worked in a factory for the last 10 years and spent 4 years before that doing housekeeping at a hotel, so I'm no stranger to physical labor. Home health seems like a good route for you to explore. You get all the rewards of being a caregiver, yet it is more one on one, instead of being a race to get everyone up or to bed by a certain time.

Thank you so much for all your imput. Last night was my night off and I slept like a baby. . I feel like a truck ran over me and im in recovery.

Tonight I go in to work at 11pm get out at 7am and then I have to go to my other work which is cleaning. On top of that, just for tomorrow I have one class at 4.30pm :(......... Since i just started, I cant leave my cleaning services.. I think I would rather do full time cleaning and partime cna, while I finish school. Mean while is the other way around. I am gonna start applying for in home cna services..... hopefully some one calls me. I dony even have a month ib this nursing home so I cant use it for experience....
