You aren't going to be expected to be perfect the first time so relax and take a deep breath. When you go in be sure to introduce yourself to the patient and tell them what you are going to do. Be methodical and take your time. If you find something is "off" ask for a second opinion. The first time is always nerve racking but nobody is going to yell at you or freak out so just enjoy yourself.
I don't know what your clinical instructor is like, but my first head-to-toe assessment... er... I mean data collection my instructor went right with me, guiding me, even placing her stethoscope right next to mine to make sure we were hearing the same things. No way will your instructor expect you to know how to do it all the first time, or know what you're listening to or feeling. No worries, you'll do just fine!!

hi i'm an lpn student tomorrow is my first assessment with a real pt (resident) i never did this before just an example sheet that my theacher pass in class , and she pretend that i know everything just with that guide .i'm realy scare .i don,t know anything .how do i know what perrla is if i never look in someones eyes before, i never heard a bowel sound .i'm so scare:confused:
