Fired.......Why?????

Published

Can someone tell me what can I do??? I have someone who was working under an interim permit, however she was always working alone and the interim stated that He/She are suppose to work with a certified RN for upto 300 Hours and she ended up giving someone .5ml of morphine to a patent. She got fired for this drug error. I heard many stories about people making even more severe drug error than this one. Now this person can't even write the RN exam unless this matter is solved and the union is suppose to sovle it and they will not even listen to us they want her to do the nurse refreser course. I think she should get to write the RN exam after all it is an exam and how she does on that exam will determine her ability as a nurse. So I wanna know what can she do and who can she talk to, to fix this problem. All she wants to do is write the RN exam Can someone please help her.:sniff:

Not to sound unsympathetic, but she should suck it up and take the refresher course. She knew she shouldn't have been working alone, but did it anyways, and then screwed up a medication. That is very serious, and it doesn't matter what other mistakes other nurses have made. She deserved to be fired and deserves to be made to do a refresher course. She is lucky to be getting a second chance at all. Why on earth would she have worked without supervision when she knew that was a condition of her lisence? Passing the exam will not prove her competence as a nurse more than her own behavior already has.

Your just lucky your not in her shoes, when she went to the hospital she told the manager she has to be under supervision and the manager signed the letter and told other nuses as well HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU SAY SOMETHING!!! And I didn't ask you if she should get a second chance I just asked if there is anyone on top of the RN board

If you think how well someone does on the NCLEX exam determines their ability to be a good nurse, (pardon me) but, YOU'RE WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

If she made a mistake and isn't taking the responsibility for her actions that's her own problem, she deserved to be fired and deserves to have to do a refresher course at the LEAST.

Probably a troll,

but it does bring up the issue. I have been asked to work outside my scope before at work. Our hospital and our BON requires certification for certain things and I have had charge nurses try to assign me patients before I was certified to look after them. My response was always NO!!! They can't force me to work outside my scope of practice because I know it's my lisence on the line, not to mention the patient's safety.

Absolutely! No one can be taken advantage of without their permission and this nurse should have said NO!
