finally did the test

Published

So i finally did the nclex yesterday and it was horrible, nothing like what i expexted almost certain i failed. The computer gave me 265 questions and i answered the last one with under 30 seconds on the clock.

I rushed the last 70 question because i was running out of time. honestly i can recall not reading one of the questions in that stretch, just chose an answer.

I sat there for 6 hours no break and still almost ran out of time, 2 answers were always so close on priorites. This is the only test i have done in my life where i felt hopeless throughout the test. After 200 questions i was done mentally, just have to study harder next time.

Until results are back, you don't know.

Here's the thing about the NCLEX. You HAVE to think in terms of the computer algorithm. Yes, pass in the minimum amount of questions is best. But, if it keeps asking you questions, you aren't "failing". You are on the line and the algorithm is trying to figure out which side you are on. In other words, it "thinks" you can still pass.

I passed mine with the minimum amount of questions, but I swear I failed it until I got the thumbs up.

Your in the game pass or fail. I mean you can fail in the minimum amount of questions as well, and you took it to the end of regulation!

Thanks i felt like if i had another hour i would probably answer those last 70 questions better.

Maybe. Meh, you got to the end. You are either a nurse, or need to retest. You're right there. Keep up the work, you will get it

So 28 hours after doing the exam, I just now tried to register for the test (PVT)

"Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time"

I guess this is a good sign, i just think its impossible that i pass the exam under my circumstances.

I hope it's a good sign I'm routing for you!!

Thank you

39 hours later and i got the good pop up for a 4th time, won't try it again, quick result will be available to me later today will update.

Quick results i passed!!!!! Omg im so stoked!!

Ok guys just to give some background and advice, I'm an international grad from the Caribbean. I graduated last October and was the average student (3.2).

I received my ATT february and studied for 2 and a half months. My main tool was UWORLD, this bank was very hard my first 75 question test, i scored 11 percent. After receiving that low grade i push my exam to may 13 because i was obviously in over my head to study in 3 weeks for it.I used UWORLD on tutor mode exlusively, did 50 to 75 questions everyday. i wrote down the rationales of all the questions i got wrong and pretty much ended up with a book of notes after a month of finishing the bank. The second month i read over the rationals every day one system daily. At the end of the week i answered all the questions pertaining to the notes and rationals the i studied.

I ended up doing UWORLD twice with this method, when my subscription expired i had 2 more weeks before my exam. I decided to purchase nclex mastery just exclusively for answering questions to assess how much i learnt from UWORLD. I did 1200 questions from nclex mastery in those 2 weeks and averaged 61 percent. I also did the whole lacharity 18 chapter's in that 2 week and averaged 63 percent.

That is how i prepared, my actual NCLEX was horrible though because question were different from UWORLD, nclex question were basic and i think i over thought much of the questions due to answering UWORLD high level questions so much, all credit goes to UWORLD though.
