Hi! I am a 30 yr old woman who has finally committed to going back to school for nursing. I am applying for an ADN program at a community college in my area (Albany, NY). I am definitely a little bit nervous about the change, but I am not happy in my field and want to get back to working with people in a helping capacity that allows me to use my critical thinking skills, while also being able to support my family.
I am mostly nervous because I am leaving behind the work that I've done in the past (research, technical work and some social work) and said no to a social work job in order to pursue this. I do plan to work during the program, as much as possible. My current job is pretty flexible and less stress with decent pay, but it's not fulfilling. I do already have a BA and I am taking Microbiology this semester.
So, I'm just hopeful that I get in and do well. Any words of wisdom as I start this journey? :)

I'm happy for you, I started back at 29. Sit with an advisor and map out your course plan and take it semester by semester. Maintain a good gpa. Before you know it, it will be time to apply to programs!
Much luck to you!!!!

Exciting! I am in my late 30's and started with microbiology last spring term .... my first application is due on January 5th and I am so excited to be at this point.
I agree with prior poster - map out the journey and before you know it, you will be ready to apply. Good luck!
