  1. Hi! I am a 30 yr old woman who has finally committed to going back to school for nursing. I am applying for an ADN program at a community college in my area (Albany, NY). I am definitely a little bit nervous about the change, but I am not happy in my field and want to get back to working with people in a helping capacity that allows me to use my critical thinking skills, while also being able to support my family. I am mostly nervous because I am leaving behind the work that I've done in the past (research, technical work and some social work) and said no to a social work job in order to pursue this. I do plan to work during the program, as much as possible. My current job is pretty flexible and less stress with decent pay, but it's not fulfilling. I do already have a BA and I am taking Microbiology this semester. So, I'm just hopeful that I get in and do well. Any words of wisdom as I start this journey? :)
  2. I'm 30 and just now taking pre-reqs. I actually have a BA and have taken grad courses, but then my husband was in the military and my life got thrown all off course as I moved around the country. I've finally committed to this program of study and am hoping to be accepted to a program in the fall. In other words, you're not behind at all! Everyone follows their own path. :)
  3. Here is a link that might be helpful for you: http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Education/pdf/APLIST.PDF I'm currently examining my options as well. I have a BA already, but am considering a career change. I'm not sure about how to go about finding avenues that will pay for it, but good luck!
