Finally got official ATT

Hi All,

Well, it's here at last, my ATT for NCLEX. Now here's the thing - it's good until June 9th but what I need to know is, do I have to PASS before then? What if I fail and have to re-sit? Do I have to re-sit before June 9th? It says on the ATT that the validity date cannot be extended for any reason.

Hi Letina,

It means that you have until June to sit the NCLEX. If you fail, you'll have to re-apply, pay a fee and wait 45 days to retake the exam, for which you would be sent another ATT. The one you have now is only good for one exam, and if you don't sit the NCLEX by June, you will forfeit your fee and have to re-apply regardless of whatever reason. Hope this helps, and don't think about failing. Just study hard and give it your best shot. Good luck!

congrats on getting your att, have you phoned and booked test yet? you have to credit card at hand that is the only form of payment they take. no more talking of failing think positive :)

Not booked the test yet Kay :chair:

I'm off to Florida some time after 16th April, just for a week, and thinking maybe I'll schedule it for when I get back, reason being I'll take my study materials with me and have a last cram while I'm there, away from any distractions here. I feel like I've waited forever for this d..... ATT and now it's here, I'm a bit scared now. How soon did you do yours after getting your ATT?

hi tina,

It was about 5 weeks-but it is different for me the agency sorted all that out for me. I did a pre flight test under exam conditions passed at 76% so they then sorted out att. The date issued was 8th Dec then I had til march to take it.

Just a quick question and a change of subject that maybe Suzanne can ans if US nurses only need to do a 2 year training course to become a RN then howcome some of the Uk nurses havent put enough hours into their training, When in UK you have to train for 3 years minimum,and are the two year RN's as qualified as RN's who do 3 years training?

Another question, so if some the US nurses only take 2 yrs how can they come here to work and be RN's? or can they not come here unless they do 3yrs training

Because in most other countries, with their rulings, to be considered a "Professional" nurse in their country, it must be the BSN. Some countries, depending on the curriculum, meet the standards with the three year program.

US regulations specify that the nurse also be trained as a "generalist" with hours in all of the different areas. Same things applies to Canada as well. Both the UK and Australia are now training "specialists."

Also take into account that over here right now, very few complete the program in two years because of all of the pre-requirsites that are required. For most it becomes a four year program.

For those that come and train in the US, they can get a visa after the two year program.
