hello!!I just would like to gather some information about the status of nurses in new zealand.I am a filipino nurse currently working in London UK and I have been here in this country for almost 10 years.I've been a theatre nurse for 14 years now.I am married to an Englishman and have a 2 year old daughter. My husband and I have been talking about moving to New Zealand for good coz we're tired of the busy life here in London.I have started processing my registration to the New Zealand Council and while waiting for that I'm just gathering as much information as I can about living in New Zealand specifically in Auckland.I know that the cost of living there is higher than anywhere else but I want to know if nurses are paid enough to neutralize the high cost of living. My husband is not a nurse so naturally he will just find some work when we get there.
I will appreciate it very much if someone will give me information about it and I'm also open for some advice.
thank you very much!

Have moved to the Australian/NZ forum as you are asking about cost of living but please post any immigration or registration questions in the International forum.
One thing I will ask, Do you have British citizenship, if not I would suggest you get it sorted before you move.
Good luck

By the number of years you stated working as a nurse, I think there'll be no problem as long as you apply in public tertiary hospitals (DHB). Your pay will be according to the number of years you are practising. It's pretty laidback here but the weather is a bit odd. Cost of living is pretty the same more or less in any part of NZ, except the housing. Of course, it's much cheaper when you are in the country side. Well, Auckland is not that expensive compared to Wellington. Most folks like North Shore. I advise this part of Auckland, too.
Goodluck kabayan!!!
Thank you very much kabayan!!!

i just want to ask, what are the chances of a filipino nurse entering new zealand when they go directly through the nursing council? or if they go through an agency?

Coming to New Zealand is a decision many, many people regret and when they want to leave they finhd they can not afford it. Do not let agencies, the NZ immigration service or any rep of a DHB feed you lies.
I live in NZ (come from America) and have for some years. I have specific reasons for doing so. NZ is expensive, cold (no central heating), there are some serious issues with racism here (my partner is Asian, so I have knowledge of the problem).
Do your research and do not trust anyone to look out for you. NZ is desperate for nurse and there is a reason for that. Seriously look at Australia as that is where most NZ nurses are anyway.
