hello there,
if you registered with crnbc you have the choice of working he 250 before or after you write the exam. have you registered to wrie thre exam? the next step would probably be to get a visa.. a tourist visa would be the fastest way for you to get to canada to write the exam but as for working i dont thnk you'll ba allowed to. you can try checking out www.canada.gc.ca for visa information... sorry i couldnt be of much help.. but have you tried lookin for an agency? to help along with the processing for a visa?
hi!! again... its been more than a month since i've submitted all my requirements in CRNBC but till now i have'nt received my confirmation yet. by the way am from the Philippines. and one more thing my ielts will expire this december 2008. do u have any idea if they will still accept my ielts? thank you very much and hope to hear from you...
hello, hmmmm since you're in the philippines maybe the mailing time will take longer... snail mail does take longer if its to another country.. you can try calling crnbc or emailing them... i also had to call them to check if they'd received all my requirements :) anyways goodluck to you!
A month is actually a very short time in the context of assessments by the nursing colleges in Canada right now. They are getting between 200 and 300 NEW applications each month and the workload is staggering. When you factor in the time it takes to actually process the application, send out the requests for verification to all the applicant's educational and registration contacts and wait for the documents to be returned then assess them for appropriateness, a month is no time at all. Patience. If you want it bad enough, you'll wait.
hi again. and thanks so much for the infos.. . well, i want to ask again especially those who had undergone the assessment from the crnbc regarding the qualification of CRNBC , because i just received a mail from my agency that my experience did not qualify with their standard? But actually i guess i have enough experience to show? I've been in SAudi arabia for 4 years as a staff nurse and went back home and and work as a staff... i think i have almost 8 years hospital experience...but how come my agency says my experience did not qualify their standard? i did all the requirements of the CRNBC... please help me..

hi there,
i'm sorry to hear about that, but uh... what do you mean? they're not allowing you to take the crne because your experience doesnt count? because i have no experience and i just wrote on the form N/A and i'm registered to take the exam this october...
thats according to my agency...because i have an agency who is affiliated here in the Philippines but they are based in the US.. and according to them i did not qualify with their assessment... i could 'nt understand.. look i paid for the assessment fee which is $262, i filled up and sent all the papers they are asking to fill up... i let the PRC and my school sent my documents..i let my employer sent their verifications..and so on so forth.. but why am i not qualified? am still waiting for the reply of my agency because i question them... either they are making money out of me?...or i donnu?
hmmm i don't know... i've never really met anyone whose had problems with crnbc assessment.. usually it goes pretty smoothly... uhh have you passed your ielts requirements? maybe thats what they meant? if your band score is low i think crnbc wont assess your requirements, but i am sure they'll want you to retake the english exam..
hmmm i dont know either.. sorry if i couldn't be of much help... umm have you tried checking your application status online? coz is faster to check it online, see what you lack and etc and after you've seen what exactly they need from you then thats the time you'd call them? although yeah calling is also a good idea too although based from experience when you call them theyre usually busy so like you have to leave a message and they're the ones who have to call you back
Well.. i live here in vancouver (just migrated from the Philippines february last year, just passed the CRNE october last year and just got my license a week ago)so i know very well (based from my own experience) the process of being a nurse in BC. Here are the requirements for new immigrants to become a nurse...1. You need to pass the IELTS exam - a score of 6 for reading, writing, listening and a score of 7 on speaking.
2. Your official transcript from the school you graduated - the school must send it to crnbc itself, hand-submitted will be rejected right away.
3. Your official proof that you passed the board exams from your home country - The board of nursing from your home country (for us filipino, the PRC) must send it to crnbc. same as above, hand-submitted will be rejected right away.
4. Fill out the official paperwork - these can be found at crnbc.com under international applicants.
5. Money for the fees - no money, no processing and assessment...
If you dont have #1, then you can't move to #2.. and so on.. If you reach #5, then good for you! After a month or so, you will receive a letter from crnbc that you are eligible to take the crne. yay!
6. Money again - this one is for the CRNE fee (485), and if you wanna apply for the interim permit (you need an employer for this, and the fee is 35/mo)
7. You take the exam..
8. You passed the exam - one last obstacle is you still need to get 250 hours under the interim permit. go apply.. and work for 250 hours.
If you failed the exam... then you have to retake it again. You don't have to start at #1 all over again, you just need to pay the fees. The wait period for the next exam, i believe, is 6 months though.. so better pass it in your first take.
9. after 250 hours, you give the canadian employer reference form to your employer. employer must fill this out, and employer himself must send it to crnbc.
10. CRNBC mails you the form for the license, you pay (367/yr)... and after 10 days (or more) you get your actual license. Congratulations, you're finally a registered nurse.
As far as i know, this is the fastest way to be a nurse in bc (well if i'm wrong... feel free to correct me hehe). It's a long and very tiring journey, there are no shortcuts, the process can't be as fast as you want (due to the volume of applicants) and you need alot of patience. But it's very much worth it and to get that license is very fulfilling. Hope this info helps.
hi!! i just receive my eligibilty.i just want to ask how did you get to canada?did you use a tourist visa or working visa? i just want ot know thanks!!
