Hello everyone ! I'm new to all nurses. I haven't seen a thread posted yet for FGCU fall 2015 so I thought I'd start one even though we still have a while until applications are due (Feb 1st). My stats are as follows: GPA 3.6, adjusted Teas 85, program percentile 90. I hear they recalculate your GPA for the nursing program so I think that my GPA may be a lot lower than that since I've retaken a few classes. I'm considering retaking the Teas to make myself a more competitive candidate just in case my GPA turns out to be a lot lower. How many of you are thinking of applying ? If so what are your stats ?
Congrats to those that got thier letters!!! I'm in Jacksonville so I assume I won't get it for a bit grrr. I have a 3.67 GPA and 81.3 on teas so fingers crossed. I also applied to unf but they don't send out interview invites until may. Anybody do the fgcu orientation Yet? I didn't wanna do it until I knew for sure if I was in or not.
I went to the orientation already only because I was still planning on attending the school even if I didn't get in. It was pretty basic stuff. They just talked about the school, what they offer and ect., and then you guys split up according to what your majors are, learn about the different majors in the specific college (ours is the college of health professions and social work) and then meet with your advisor. We didn't get a tour though, I'm assuming that's because we're transfer students and not first time in college students, but I still think they should've given us one. You also get your student ID and parking pass. Make sure you send in immunization records if you haven't already.
They have west lake village which is an apartment complex not to far from the school. I haven't been there though so idk what it's like but I've heard it's pretty nice. You get your own room and your own bathroom. They have some pictures up on they're website to show the layout, pricing and ect. I plan on doing that for the first year and then moving out the following year once I actually know people/potential roommates.
Ooh ok that sucks. I don't believe they have any other off campus housing options like other bigger colleges do. I'm pretty sure we'll be having a nursing orientation meeting so hopefully you'll be able to meet others who are in a similar situation and could be potential roommates. But I'd definitely start looking into housing options ASAP.
