Feminine Hygiene for 4th Grade?

The post about P&G reminded me that they sent me a rejection email last year because my school only goes up to 4th grade.

'Cause ya know, 4th graders don't get periods... :facepalm:

Are there any other companies that have freebies that I could request? Last year I had several girls that needed supplies. It's only a matter of time before it starts again this year.

As a high school nurse I used to pass all the dainty mini-pads out to my elementary nurse friends. Because no way did a high schooler want a pantyliner. Do you have anyone in a higher grade who would bequeath the tiny pads to you?

I got donations this year from a parent and a great company called TOP: The Organic Project of pads and tampons (they pick a non-profit to donate one package of pads or tampons to each month for every new subscriber they got). Working with grades 7-12, I go through so many feminine products. Do you have local sources that might donate? Or maybe a parent or two?

I could definitely see if the PTO would mind adding the request to their newsletter. Parents can be hit or miss.

Last year I asked for boy clothes, and got a ton. This year I'm short on girls, and haven't received nearly the donations.

I'll have to see if there are any local groups that might donate. Thanks!

Try emailing [email protected] or calling them at 1-800-281-0924. I was able to help the middle schools in my local district get samples packs of both pads and tampons through that organization last year... I can't remember having to specify a grade level.... I don't remember the brands, but I do recall they sent more than we expected.

Seems like we also got pads samples from "U by Kotex" (Unilever).... but I'm not finding that contact info as readily. I'll post back if I find it.

(I haven't tried to get samples this year, so idk if the contact above is still valid :unsure: -- but still, it's worth a shot. ) Good luck.

Can you imagine if we had to rely on donations to keep up a supply of toilet paper?!?!?! WHY are menstrual products treated differently.

Can't the school just, you know, BUY SOME PADS?!?!?!

I also searched the Kotex site. Couldn't get the sample page to load, but I send them a message asking about samples for schools.

I mean, I got a lot of donation this year, but I also budget for pads and tampons every year and thankfully my school fully supports that. But thanks to recent donations, next year I can shift those funds to something else I need/want - I may be able to buy a few stock spacers for any students that need them instead.

Check with your custodians - ours are the ones that order the terrible diaper type pads the district gives.

And P&G hasnt given pads with their growing up kit for a while now. Was deodorant last year. :(

Although in our schools, the classrooms DO depend on donations for Kleenex... if there's not enough sent in, the teachers look to other teachers to see if they got too many boxes (rare) or they end up buying the tissues out of their own pocket.
