Feelings about graduation

Just wondering how others feel or felt about their graduation from nursing school. Were you beating down the door to get out there? Or did you feel like you weren't quite ready to leave the nest quite yet?

I personally wish I had a time machine to get me to Saturday or that I could hibernate till then or something, lol.

I am also paranoid that something is going to go wrong and they are goin to send me a letter saying that "I'm sorry, but we have discovered an error and you will not be able to graduate, please enjoy an additional semester at our school."

haha...i agree with the above poster. that, and i'm just burnt out! i have my final on wednesday and i'm having a hard time focusing. i'm more concerned about nclex right now. i'm taking the test as soon as i get my ATT, so i've been studying for that.

so, i don't feel like i can get too excited or relaxed after graduation because i know there is still more work to be done. does it ever end? haha.

I am graduating this friday. I'm very excited, but at the same time I'm sad. I'm not going to see my friends as often, we went through a lot together, and this graduation is bittersweet. :(. . .but now is time to enter the real world, which i welcome, but i'm scared at the same time. ;)

Tomorrow is my last final and I will be done. We had our pinning ceremony Saturday and truly I wish I could go back and watch it from a corner to see it again.

For 16 months our class has been together and I really would like to go back and have a do over, but know all the stuff that I know now. (Boy do I sound crazy!!) We've been a really tight knit group and it's been hard these past few weeks seeing everyone start to break apart. I think that is the part that I want as a do-over, but I think that my program gave me the building blocks that I need to get out into real world of nursing.... Though I am sure that I will have the shock of my life time that very first day (that's why I plan on bringing a brown paper bag that first day of work so I can either puke or stop hyperventilating!)

Change is a hard thing and to know that there's no more nursing school and it's "welcome to the real world" is a bit intimidating.

I graduated this past May. I was having anxiety attacks beforehand. I was worried I wasn't fully competant to be a nurse. It's all been fine. Just make sure to ask questions about orientation before taking a position.

I was beating down the door to get out. Prior to the ceremony, I shared quite a bit of wine in the parking lot with some of my classmates--frankly that was all the celebrating I needed.

Thank god to be done. I didn't go to nursing school to have a graduation, or to be a career student (though it feels I've been that way for a while), I went to be a nurse! I couldn't take the NCLEX until my school sent in the paperwork; I couldn't get the paperwork sent in until I graduated. That was the excitement about graduation--one step closer to working as an RN!

Definately BEATING DOWN THE DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all were burnt out to a crisp and over done!

I was so exhausted by that time all I could think about was the chance to sleep. I just wanted OUT. But my personal experience, and that of the new grads with whom I now work, is that few of us feel confident when we start our practice. It just takes time. Allow yourself at least one year, maybe more, to feel comfortable.

our class was loosely knit, and quite a few were out for themselves...they'll be lousy nurses, too. I'm not gonna miss nursing school one bit!

I was waiting for that other shoe to drop too... now two weeks after graduation it still feels like I should be doing something with all of this spare time. I have a nice break before I start working in Jan, but I am thinking I need something to do.
