Feel like crying...need encouragement

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I had to withdraw from my classes this semester. My bf and I are moving and it will be too far for me to commute to school AND work. Which means I am putting off the science prereq's for another semester. :(

I know that a semester isn't very long for some people, but I am in my late 20's and feel like this is going to take me forever. I feel like giving up and I haven't even started. :crying2:

I remember when i was your age everything would make me cry. I'm 36 and retaking prereqs in the Fall.

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

I'm 40 and just started taking my prereq's this summer. I can only WISH I was your age right now, but I can't change that. If I am not too old, you're certainly not!

Thanks everyone I'm feeling better. I found an online English and psych class so I am starting to think it will be ok.

Specializes in ER.

That is awesome !!!

On a side note: It's so GREAT to meet so many others here that "older". :yeah:

Hey do not let ths minor setback hold you down. I have felt the same way, but I reflect on where I am now and where I wanna be tommorow. If you want to be a nurse and it's your dream then I know that you will fight through it. Don't quit now we are all counting on you in this team of pre nurses. We will need you I have faith in you. Good Luck

Life is full of setbacks, just hang on in there!

I have a saying on my cell phone" Prove you can" I have a 8th grade education. I am starting my second year in school. I thought id never make it. I saved my own $ for 3 years to pay for it all myself. When i get a lil in doubt , i look at my cell phone, and think CHA ching-cha ching, and i can hear the $ allready coming in!!!!

just for the record, haha last year in my first semester, , i dealt with: my dog died, my mom found out she had a rare form of cancer, and no$ to do anything, my freind died in the middle of exams in A&P class of a brain hemmorage, my truck was stolen, and my gf and i broke up. I dropped my sociology class. lost my job also. Looking back, now, i stuck to it, we are back together(gf) and my mom got help is cancer free, my dog is still dead ,but its ok. I got a new car to replace my truck. I have a good enough job to get by till i graduate.

Stick to it, all will work out and look back and say, wow, i did it!!

On a side note GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was your age I was very interested in being a nurse. In my senior year in High School I completed my CNA. Then my MA, and on my way to completing my prereqs.

Back then you were instructed to not work during the two-year RN program, and we were about to enter another recession.

Needless to say, my dad lost his job and mom lost hours. They told me that they wouldn't be able to support me for two years, and that I was on my own.

I had to give up the RN program and was so sad. I kept my medical assistant job and continued my B.A. in the afternoons. Then, the economy got worse, and a lot of the RNs were taking MA jobs to support themselves. With my prereqs, I was able to teach Science in a middle school for years and earn more.

Now, at 36 years old, I'm ready to go back. It's never too late.

Don't give up! Who knows what new things will happen in your new environment? I am really glad that all you younger people are going to nursing school. I'm 55 and I may need a good nurse soon! (I graduated in 1977. Last century.)

Um, an older nurse entering the profession would be just as good too, especially with all that life experience :wink2:

One more thing, what are you doing moving away with your boyfriend at 20. I'm 36 years old and reccommend you to put your education first, then move away with your HUSBAND.

I really hope you don't regret puting your education on hold for a boyfriend. People I know, have live to regret THAT decision. Good LUCK to you!
