February 2015 Medical City Internships

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi all!

Well, it's that exciting time many of us have been waiting for. Medical City has posted its Feb 2015 internships and I heard from the recruiting office that they have over 100 applicants for the main hospital. I think the children's hospital has already begun interviewing but I don't know for sure. I applied for the critical care internship a week ago and haven't heard anything yet. If you're sitting with your fingers crossed feel free to comment below what you want and where you're at in the process and good luck to everyone!

Hey! I applied for just about every position that was posted but haven't heard anything. I've been checking frequently for changes to my application. So far a couple of them say "completed" some say "Application Received" and then some say "Not Under Consideration"

Hi Mizzou :)

Yeah no word here either, but I know two fellow students who got rejection emails last week so perhaps that's a sign that we are still in the running? Who knows!?

Specializes in Oncology nursing and patient navigation.

I applied for PICU and NICU when the jobs first posted. For some reason I immediately got a rejection email for PICU. Like 30 seconds after I submitted the application. No idea why. But my NICU application is still in the running. Is medical city a nice hospital? I'm not from Dallas so I dont know much about the area. I interviewed last week at Methodist Dallas for an ER position but unfortunately did not get it.

I had a phone screening last week with Med City, she said that the hiring managers will start calling around Nov 10 -13 for interviews, if that helps :).

mbaseyscott that is so strange about the immediate rejection, but I'm glad the NICU job is still in the works. As to your question, I know more about the adult portion of Medical City than I do the children's hospital, but I have heard through the grapevine that the children's hospital has wonderful internships that are very conducive and welcoming for new nurses. I have also read posts on allnurses from many new nurses who went through the internships there and the consensus seems to be very positive. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Nurse0707 - Lol! I'll never make it! :nailbiting:

Seriously, time has slowed down waiting on these internships. Two weeks feels like a year! I really appreciate the info though! Also, what is a phone screening?

A HR representative called to see if I was a good fit for the program in order to send my resume to the hiring manager. It was very vague and only lasted about 7 min.

Well thats good news Nurse0707! I still haven't heard anything and my application statuses have not changed

How was the phone screen? I have one scheduled this week

It was quick, she just asked me why medical city?? She told me about the internship opportunity. And that was it.

Oh that seems simple. Thanks Nurse0707!
