  1. Congrats to both of you! clynns- I have not. I am presuming I will not hear anything until I pass my boards. The next big hurdle...
  2. I am a Collin grad and each semester we had lecture on Monday from 8:30-2:30 and one day of the week at our clinical site for 8-12 hours depending on which semester. In addition to that I had skills lab from 8-12 one day of the week for the first two semesters, and on the 4th semester we had an online class in nursing leadership. All that being said, please know that my class was the last of the "old way" and things are different for all the students behind me, so hopefully someone on this page can clarify what it is like now. I think things have changed regarding skills but are mostly the same deal for lecture and clinical length.
  3. Msg88 YAAAAAAY!!!!! I'm so happy for you! Enjoy this happy time :) leewalker1968 yeah the nervousness is annoying for sure! I exercised a few hours before my interview and that helped me get out a lot of nervous energy. Deep breathing. You got this! Good luck!
  4. I got the internship! I am so happy and excited! This has been such a long road but I finally have a job as a real nurse! You guys are next so please keep me updated!
  5. Msg88 I really hope you get the job you want. It's tough waiting isn't it?
  6. Leewalker it was a three page text consisting of two parts. Part one had 7 or 8 situations (patients, events, interruptions) that I have to prioritize in the order I would address them. I also had to list all nursing interventions I would do for each. The second part was a situation I had to put in SBAR. Good luck! Post after your interview and let us know how it goes!
  7. Had my interview last week and it was pretty intense. I suppose I should have expected a panel interview but I just hadn't been. Everyone was very nice and clearly trying to keep the vibe in the room mellow but with 8 people asking different questions it's a little hard to focus. I feel I did well enough. They said they will let me know in a week or two. Fingers crossed!
  8. Residencies are up but the pickings are really slim they only offered jobs to current employees first so there isn't much locally. I'm bummed.
  9. Congrats Nurse0707! i had my interview today for the critical care internship at Medical City. There was a written test on prioritizing patients, nursing knowledge and SBAR, then a panel interview. Maybe 7-8 people? I think I did well but with so many candidates it's anyone's guess. I find out in a week or two.
  10. Congratulations Nurse0707! I'm glad the waiting game paid off for us both. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
  11. Just got a callback for an interview the first week of December for the critical care internship at Medical City! So excited!
  12. Nothing from anyone. It's been nearly 5 weeks! :-/
  13. I know what you mean :-/ I send the same resume and letters of recommendation for each job I apply for, but I type a slightly different cover letter for each one.
  14. Thanks for all the info TXU80. It's really appreciated! You said you were in the SICU. What was the nurse culture like on that unit? Do you know anything about the other ICUs? How has it been working at Parkland this last year and was it the learning experience you hoped for?
  15. I'm only applying to Plano and Medical City. I haven't heard anything, but a friend of mine works in an ICU at Medical City and she mentioned that her manager is picking out who to interview this week so the recruiter should be making calls either the end of this week or next week.
