FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

Published

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

I'll be printing those out when I stop by campus tomorrow.

Are those powerpoints and stuff for the whole 4 semesters of the nursing program?

Yes they have the dosage calc that we do for all terms on there!

I didnt go by the nursing office today, but I will take a peak tomorrow after class! ;) The latest should be next week since that will be your 6 weeks! The two books needed are Dosage Calculations A Ratio-Proportion Approach Second Addition by Gloria D. Pikar and the other book would be Exploring Medical Language A Student-Directed Approach 7th edition by Myrna LaFleur Brooks! You guys can join the nursing tutor community on blackboard under North Campus communties there is a tab that says community you click on that, then go to North Campus then stroll down until you see Nursing Tutor and click enroll, this is where all of the self studies are and ppts on the dosage calc and med term along w/ practice pgs! Good luck everyone!

Can anyone just "enroll" in this section? Do you have to be approved or will they wonder who you are? I was afraid to click "enroll". Do we need to be authorized or anything special?

I was able to enroll with no problems

This is my first posting, although I have been reading the FSCJ posts for the last year. I applied with 204 points and that is without microbiology that I am now currently taking. I applied for night and weekends and pray that I get them. I finally went through Amazon and bought all my books and spent close to $550.00. This is going to be an expensive semester. Godd luck to everyone.:)

Anyone can enroll!!! You don't need any authorization....

How did you buy all the books already? How do you know they will not change them this semester? Even if they dont change them this semester, if you have to have nights and weekends I'm not so sure 204 will cut it which means you might be going in the fall term which means theres even a higher chance of them changing books.

I am applying with 218 points for days, I have 2 friends who are applying with 221 and 224. I think the cut off is going to be pretty high this semester. Last semester the cut off was higher than normal and I think this one will be even higher.

I couldn't agree with you more!

Just curious- are your friends applying for nights or days with those points? I only have 213 and I'm afraid it won't cut it for nights since it wasn't offered in the spring I anticipate more to be carrying over in hopes of getting nights.

Our letters can't come soon enough!! This wait is killing me! :)

I have been watching this thread. Decided to join today. I too applied with over 200 points. I feel that it is going to take over 215 points to get in this semester. Just my opinion

Hope not. That'd be like a 20pt increase from the last semesters cutoff and I applied with 215.

Im guessing somewhere around 200 is the cutoff which is still an increase from the last term which was around 193.

no email today, so I assume I wont be getting a letter in the mail today either. If we dont get anything tomorrow, I'll stop thinking about till next week.
