FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

U.S.A. Florida

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

Hey Sara,

By chance are you taking your Micro at the Kent Campus on Tues? I have a Sara in my class. Oh, and thanks for the info on the NAT date, I forgot the date to take it by just in case I don't get a good score. I'll have to do some quick studying since it's been a while for me that I've taken math.

RC, I am at Kent, but it's a Mon/Wed class. :) Taking Dr. D, I love her! Who do you have?

Did I figure that right as far as the dates/NAT? I think the Summer application deadline is Feb 1(?), so if we take it by Oct 15, we can re-take it by Jan 15, right?

SaraFL,

I am taking Dr. D on Mon/Wed as well. Are you afternoon or evening?

I will be applying for the Summer 2010 program as well and have already taken my NAT.

Here is how I figured out my score:

Academic Aptitude: 56

Reading Comprehension: 21

Information in the Natural Sciences: 73

Total NAT score: 150 x .64 = 96

I plan on having all 9 of my prerequisites completed before enrolling (finishing up my last 5 this term) but here is what I have for my scores so far:

A&PI: I got a 4.0 x 4 credit hours = 16 points

A&PII: 4.0 x 4 = 16

DEP: 4.0 x 3 = 12

ENC: 4.0 x 3 = 12

Total so far: 56

SO... 96+56= 152

I also got an A in my chemistry but I'm not seeing anywhere that they will add that into my points, just that I had to do it... does anyone know anything about this?

I am currently taking Micro, College Alg, Humanities, and my Psyc and Syg I broke up within the 16 weeks. I'm pretty confident I can get A's in those if I keep my nose to the grindstone however, seeing that they only accept 96 students for summer enrollment, I'm still going to take my NAT again because I really didn't know what I was doing the first time. I just wanted to get it under my belt.

Oh, and just to give my 2 cents to someone else's question about whether you need to have certain classes to enroll, I know you don't have to have some of them to enroll (like someone else already stated), just both your A&P's, college alg., and completion of a chemistry, BUT from what I hear from all the advisors is that your chances of getting in without them is slim because those are points you don't have...especially for the summer term.

Also, another quick question... they gave me 3 copies of my NAT scores. Am I to understand that as I cannot get another copy from the school?

I'm so excited to be able to chat with some of you regarding our "journey!"

Misti, I'm in the evening - now that I think about it, I think there's a Misti in my class, too LOL. :)

Chemistry is just a prereq that you need to take Micro. It is not included in your point totals.

Misti, I'm in the evening - now that I think about it, I think there's a Misti in my class, too LOL. :)

I sit at the front of the class in the middle. Are you in the same class?

I'm kinda chubby with dark hair and I sit beside Jon. He's on my left.

That would be so funny if you are in my class!

I'm really chubby (maybe more than chubby, ummm LOL), dark hair, back row. I think we are in the same class. :)

I'll have to look for you on Monday.

Thanks for the info on Chemistry.

Hello all,

I recently applied for the spring term 2010. I had all of my pre-reqs exept for Microbiology and Human Growth in which I am currently enrolled. With my Nat and grades and without those classes my points were only 172 but Im hoping for a miracle. I figured with the economy maybe the point requirements would be lowered. Application deadline was Oct 1, so im still waiting on my acceptance/denial letter. If I dont get in for spring, Im going to try again for the summer. I figure with the points for Micro and Human growth I will have about 190 at the least and with "A's" 200.so getting in for the summer shouldnt be a problem. Im hopeful but we will see.

I think you will have a better chance of getting in once you have completed your last two prereqs. Aim for A's and you will definitely get in! Good luck to you in the mean time, I am also waiting for my acceptance/denial letter for Spring 2010 and I wish they would HURRY UP!!! LOL

I will also be applying for the Summer 2010 program. I have completed all my pre-reqs and I took the NAT today. I am just not sure if I want nights/weekends or days? Does anyone have an idea of the schedules for each? I look forward to meeting you all in the program!:yeah:
