Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL
I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.
I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.
Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?
Salena- I am SO relieved you got to use that class!! :)
Great scores on the NAT for everyone who just took it or retook it!
I hand delivered my application on Thursday. She made sure everything was there and said I would hear something 8 weeks from Feb. 1st. UGH- what a LONG time!! I'm so impatient!!
Hello Everyone,
I'm a bit bummed, I just took the NAT today and didnt do as well as I'd hoped. I Freaked out (test anxiety) and did exactly what I said I wasnt going to do and that's take too long on certain questions. The result was alot of unanswered questions that I didnt even have a chance to guess on.. I plan to apply anyway with 191.60 but the cutoff's appear to be getting higher and higher! Also I was reading Salema's thread about a certain class that had to go through the Dean well I have a feeling that will be my story when I hand walk in my application this Monday. I dont have psy 1012 instead have Dep 2002 which is Child Psychology and the Degree Audit accepted it and I assumed this was accurate. It appears I will be needing to take a specific psychology class.. Sigh...
For those of you with top scores, congratulations!! I wish everyone on this thread the best of luck and hope you hear good news in 8 weeks.
psg513a - I'm sorry to hear about your NAT test. Was this your first time taking it? I had some serious nerves going on when I took it as well. Just a heads up regarding the class, he didn't give it to me because of my argument regarding the class being on my degree audit. He only accepted it after he looked over both class descriptions. He didn't say anything one way or the other regarding how close they were to each other, just that he would accept it. He will probably look at yours too. Keeping my fingers crossed it'll work out for you.
Thank You Salena... If that's the case then "maybe" he will consider it; being that Psy 1012 is a pre-req to Dep 2002 Child Psy.. It wouldn't be a bad thing if I had to take it over again considering it's a class from the early 90's that I made a C on but It's expensive to keep taking classes without financial aid or Grants available.
How did you keep your cool? I didnt start to relax til after the Science portion of the exam and by then it was too late! It was one of those situation where if you'd ask me what's 15 + 7 = ????? IDK... Too much anxiety! I left ALOT of blank questions and I urge anybody reading this, NOT TO DO THAT! If you are running out of time like say "5" min just go, go, go and pick a letter and stick with it.. Guess anything but dont leave anything blank! Even so, it wasnt a hard test @ all but it does require you to focus and not panic! I scored a total of 89.9 and alot was left blank in the Reading Comprehension and Verbal Apptitude Sections.
I will let you know how it goes on Monday but at 191.6 I doubt I will make it this round even if they do take my Dep 2002 ! I can't retake NAT til 4/30/10 so I guess I will be trying again for the Fall term and If i dont get accepted this round I will certainly take the Psy course just to accumulate 6 extra points!
Both time I have taken the test I didn't get through the non verbal... even though i knew the second time what to expect... I still got to like question 80 of 90 and had maybe 2 mins left, so I started guessing without really even answering them. I needed like another 5 mins to do justice to the questions. I'm not sure what keeps holding me up. I can't even recall any questions I got stuck on... I know when I reached the end I had 2 unanswered questions.. after a guessing the last 10 questions but when I tried to go back and find the ones I missed, I couldn't find them... So I must have been speeding through and completely missed them... Either way...
The good news is you can retake the test in 90 days. And the questions are 100% the same. But 90 days is just long enough to forget them. I suggest writing down any questions that gave you difficulty ASAP. I took the test Wednesday and many of them are already out of my head. I can't even retake the test until September anyway, so maybe that's a good thing. I'm hoping my points will at least be enough for Fall if I don't make Summer.
ALSO PSG513A, I'm with you on taking these classes over a decade ago... most of my credits are at or above 10 years old... With the exception of the science courses... And most of the other programs I have looked at won't accept credits more then 10 yrs old. If FSCJ won't let you retake the classes b/c you passed them, How do you keep your credits current? I don't get financial aid either, since I am not officially in a program (and already have a BS in Psychology)...
On another note... When I submitted my Application I used the old form, not realizing there was an updated form. Do you guys think I should hand deliver a new application Monday or just stay with the old application?
Best of Luck Guys!

Well, he accepted my class!
I have calculated and re-calculated my points and I'm getting a total of 204.56 now. I feel so much better. LOL! I don't have the colossal points some of you have but hopefully it's enough to get in!
