FCCJ Spring 2009

U.S.A. Florida

Hey all!

I was just trying to get in touch with anyone hoping to start the RN program at FCCJ in the Spring 2009 semester. Hopefully we can see what the points seem to be at or where they were for the Fall 2008 semester.

Look forward to talking!:nuke:

its really hard to be prepare for the hesi test first term......its really hard to study for because they dont teach half the stuff you are tested on, no one passed in my class, but it didnt matter, personally i think the hesi is a joke, its just luck of the draw, or if your a good at guesser you'll be okay!!!

ATTN MSWHITNEY,

The HESI exit is a gauge of your critical thinking skills, and they'll cover everything, even stuff you've never heard of. And they also pull some "cultural" issues on you from way back when in Concepts. The average in my summer group on the HESI exit was around 75-78. All you can do is try your best. As we were flipping out over the crappy grade, pour instructors were enthusiastic, saying if we scored 75 on the HESI, we'd pass the NCLEX, and thats what really count.

For you new students, I know you don't want to hear this but I'll say it anyway, go ahead and buy the NCLEX study guides (big books) and refer to that for Pharm and Assessment. Its going to help you get a feel for what their tests are like (test questions are pulled from a "question bank"). Sometimes the instructors have to put their brains together to determine if what they taught was in line with the question.

Good Luck!

Thank you!! I have gotten really good scores on the HESI, but not so much on regular tests. Thanks for telling me! =)

You guys have a week left!! Clean your house!! And any of you can add me on myspace or send me a PM and I can send you study guides and other sorts of stuff I have that might still apply this upcoming semester. Get anything you think you will need to get done in the next four months, done. Take Adult Health I first for the second semester, you will be glad you did! You will feel overwhelmed, but you should study a little bit at a time, you should be fine. If you cannot concentrate, do something else and then go back to studying. Study for 15 minutes, and then break for 5. It helps to stager it out. Try doing yoga poses. Those help relax me and clear my head. And Good Luck guys!! You will be nurses soon enough and after the first semester, the time just flies by! =)

I was wondering if there is anyone that had to get a booster after getting the initial titer for the MMR and still need a positive titer? I was laid off from my job and COBRA hasn't kicked in yet. I thought my benefits would be active as soon as my payment was received. I was notified today that it will not post to my account until the mid of January. I've decided to go to the same place we had our drug screening at, but they said it will take a week for the results to come back. Do you think this will have any impact on my acceptance into the program? The lady in charge of our lab work at FCCJ is out of the office until January 2nd.

You have to have a positive titer, I know that much. You have to have it for clinical, so I am sure they are willing to let you wait until you start to get all your immunizations in. (You do not start clinical until week 8)

What books are you all going to take to Orientation? I wasn't sure hwat we would need other than Dosage Calc.

Also, for some reason I thought that we are supposed to wait to start the Ind. Studies until after the Dosage Calc. class. Is that correct?? I've been doing some of it, just problems out of the book, but with FCCJ's system being down I can't get online to see what's on there as far as the Ind. Studies... I'm not quite sure how on earth to study a student handbook, but I'm working on it :0).

See you all MONDAY! I can't believe it is coming so fast!

Hi, Everyone!

I'm new to this site and im SURE its been asked a million times, but i have a few questions for you FCCJ students.

1)Exactly what type of math is on the NAT? i feel confident ill do well on the verbal and such, but math is always my weakness;)

2)I was wondering if someone could walk me through what happens after you get your acceptance letter and exactly what the programs hours are like.

3)what was everyones application points?

thanks so much, and i cant wait to hear back from you guys!

Hi Moecato,

I'm starting to think that with the semester beginning Monday that I am the only one coming on here this weekend... or at least over the past few days. I start term 1 Monday, so I don't know how much help I'll be as far as what the program is like, since I don't know myself, but as far as the NAT, I remember basic math, nothing overly complicated, and there was also basic science (which was fresh in my mind since I took A&P II the same semester I took the NAT). It changes for everyone though. Once the system "decides" that you have answered enough questions correctly it doesn't ask you those types anymore.

The points change for each semester as well, our cut-off this semester was around 182 I think, just do your best in all of your classes, and study hard for the NAT and you'll be fine.

If you are accepted, FCCJ will send you a packet with all of the instructions for everything you'll have to do. It is pretty extensive, but doable... but it is too much to go into detail on here. You'll have immunizations and tests to get, things you'll have to buy, etc. The letter is pretty clear and will explain everything.

What semester are you applying for?

Good luck!

Hey NJFek (because you will probably be the only one to see this lol) I am going to be buddy!! Sooo on Monday you can probably meet me (and whoever else wants to). =)

Looking forward to it :0) Enjoy the little down time that is left :0)

Can the NAT only be taken at FCCJ?

Yes, Siby the nat has to be taken at fccj... im pretty sure that you have to make an appointment w/ the testing center and it cost around 40 bucks.
